I just got an offer from EY in London but considering based on what the maternity policy is which doesn’t seem to be spelt out in contract or benefits pdf. Does anyone know a) if there’s a minimum employment period to qualify and b) what the enhanced maternity pay is. I’ve read both 16 weeks and 18 weeks.

I definitely did during the first trimester. I was just depressed plain and simple. Not eating, exhausted, unable to focus, crying all the time. At some point my husband said “you haven’t talked to me in 6 days” and I realized I needed to talk to someone. I ended up speaking with my OB about it and she said pre-natal depression is 100% a real thing and not something as openly discussed as it should be. It’s not just the hormones but it’s also the life change and loss of identity paired with physically not feeling well for several weeks on end.
I ended up speaking to a therapist about it - which was helpful but honestly I think I turned a corner when I started physically feeling better and was able to eat properly and exercise. Which is kind of obnoxious I know - but I really think the physical symptoms of early pregnancy contributed to my depression.
It was come and go throughout my first trimester and into my second, but now I’m 39 weeks and I haven’t had any depressive episodes since probably half way through the second trimester. I’d suggest speaking to your OB about it and maybe seeing a therapist…once I did I felt like at least it’s not just me.
Thank you for sharing!! I completely agree with what you said about physical symptoms potentially contribute to depression. I was quite active in general, but the pregnancy has drained ALL my energy. My husband said he’d never seen me this tired in all years he knew me. I will talk with my OB soon next week and figure it out from there.

Probably. Haven’t taken a test or anything but I know anxiety has ramped up and some days are better than others. I’ve just been powering through. I am linked up with a therapist biweekly though, so that helps a lot. 💕
Glad therapies are helpful! I’ll give it a try too! Thank you for sharing.
