Anyone familiar with EY’s global compliance & reporting and private client services? Can you share some insights on what they do and the workload/exit options

GCR is going to generally have corporate tax compliance and tax provision work as the main aspect, although you may have TARAS (tax accounting work in there as well). Private will have tax compliance for private companies and pass throughs, individual tax compliance and planning, gift/estate/trust work, etc. I also know some people in private that do tax provision work for private companies or PE backed companies. Exit opportunities depend on level, company, etc. I’ve seen plenty of people leave in a variety of roles at EY and take completely different (even with tax) roles in industry. Hope that helps, although not all inclusive.

Workload certainly will have pushes in association with compliance deadlines, but not out of line with other sub service lines.

I have worked on both groups and can give you detailed info on it. Feel free to DM me and we can talk, if you would like.

I had a 3rd and final interview with this hiring manager. I can't tell if it went well or not because of how it ended. The entire conversation felt natural but at the end she told me that she is open and would love to connect with me on LinkedIn if I decide to send an invite. Also that I would hear from HR the next two weeks. Is it normal for managers to ask to connect after final interviews when no decision has been made yet? First time a manager offered to connect so im overthinking it

Partners in my practice group recently communicated that we (non-partners) are not supposed to take vacation days unless they are in large blocks. This is presumably to avoid having us be unavailable on Fridays/Mondays where we take long weekends. Am I crazy for thinking that is totally ridiculous? Obviously coverage is easier to obtain for larger blocks but this unofficial “policy” seems extreme.
