I originally asked for 180-200k base salary since it's a director level role and I'm coming with ~9 YOE. They said that is at the very top of their budget so I'm looking for tips on how to navigate that conversation and if that comp seems reasonable?

New/pivoting into HR! 👋 Currently working as a TA Coord with a little entry level work in HR Ops prior to this. Is there a SHRM link, reliable test, or method of shadowing the various parts of HR that will provide a sample of the work, thinking, and day to day experience of each group? I didn’t go to school for HR and therefore haven’t had the opportunity to sample HR Ops. vs. TA vs. Comp vs. Benefits vs. Payroll, etc. I know work experience is the best barometer, but what can supplement this?

I have been employed with them for 17 years and honesty, it’s a great company to work for. I have been in management for over 7 years at this point, completing everything from culinary management to both ends of service management, I have also completed my general management assessment. My pay has only increased on average of less than 3% per year with one year at 6%. I have never negotiated my salary before, is this too low? If so what is good increase for a company that continues to excel?

What should I do for consevative strategy of investment. I invested in RE before and never had time and brush up my knowledge in stock other than puting to my 401k.
