Anyone fearful of flying? I get anxious when there’s a turbulence, even a mild one. Tough to be a consultant who needs to travel so much:(

I’m terrified during turbulence... I usually try to sit next to a hot, masculine guy so I can squeeze their hand...💁🏻‍♀️😬

I’m also not a big fan of flying. The book “Cockpit Confidential” helped me a lot. Dispels a lot of common myths, like that turbulence is any risk to a plane. Pilots do there best to avoid it purely for passenger comfort

That’s a good read and I recommend it as well. Also helps to remember that planes (and trains) are statistically far safer than cars.

The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to function as a consultant should function.

Xanax, partially in jest, but it did help until I got used to it.

What exactly are you afraid of? Most people are afraid of the plane crashing and them dying in the process. I used to worry about that a bit, but after traveling across the country for a 10 months in a row, I eventually got used to turbulence not resulting in a plane crash, and I no longer was afraid of the plane crashing every time the ride got bumpy. You’ll get used to it eventually, just like all the flight attendants. If you’re afraid of your drink spilling during turbulence, then that’s healthy and will protect you and your electronics.

A glass of wine and Jesus. It does wonders for your nerves.

As I’ve gotten older I’ve gotten more anxious about it. A gin and tonic preflight helps a bit, but I just try to sleep

Yeah, I always think he flight is my last; but this job makes the prospect of that seem less and less undesirable...

Whenever someone is a nervous flyer, I calmly look them in the eyes and tell them everything will be okay. It's understandable to be nervous. Confidence provides comfort. Soon enough the jet engines will begin to roar for takeoff. I'll look back into their eyes with a sense of fear. This isn't normal. Oh no. Not good. Too much shaking. The smooth takeoff becomes a journey in itself. Phase two initiates when the pilot throttles back. The plane's sudden dip can be much more convincing with the right attitude. Fly safe

Silly question but can someone explain how credit card payments and utilization rates work? I always pay before the payment due date but think that is causing my credit score to be lower because of how/when utilization is calculated. For example, right now I have $500 in total transactions, it says payment due date is 1/8, but total minimum payment due is $0 and next closing date is 1/11. When is the “correct” time to pay?

Just giving a bit of Gyan to fellow fishers Please please do not ever use CTC comparison between current and next company. If you get an offer, do an in hand calculation. Some companies add Retirals like Employer PF, Gratuity along with Insurance, furniture allowance as part of your CTC. Others don't. Sone also have higher variable package. So when you do a CTC delta you may get a 20% hike but when you discount the above things you will fall short and may end up making less. So choose wisely.
