If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

That’s up to you on what you want to accomplish in life. I had certain career aspirations that included being a lawyer and a consultant, which required multiple degrees. I am close to having my financial independence and plan to move to SE Asia soon. My degrees helped me to accelerate my financial goals to get me to this point.
Nice this sounds like my ideal as well.
I quit consulting so not going back there, but would dream of working a nicely paid gig somewhere like Jakarta or Bangkok if I can land it

My perspective, yes. Pursued a PT MBA. Paid about $60k out of pocket. Recouped 2x that amount in 2 years after the MBA. Left job to be FIRE. Loved the experience of the MBA program.

Thanks VP1. We were in a similar position where we could have been fatFIRE in about 4 more years. But after a lot of soul searching decided that 4 years spending significantly more time with my elementary school going kid was more important than doing the grind from Monday to Thursday, every week. We as a family made the decision that I would be the stay-at-home parent. Spouse still works so that takes care of all expenses, including reasonable indulgences such as vacations (not too often, not too expensive), dining out (2x a week, inexpensive), and the likes. We're not drawing down on the stash; still able to contribute small amount every month. I get to cook fresh, delicious meals. We're in what we call "coastFIRE" mode. I do part time teaching, on my terms and time. Probably 10% of what I made in consulting.
As far as numbers, we have ~$1M in net worth. Before I left full time work, more than half of my paycheck was going towards padding our stash. After maxing out 401(k), IRA, was putting $6k in taxable brokerage & $5k in 529 account. Built up cash reserves of $30k. Paid down $30k towards mortgage principal in the last full year of work.
That turned out to be a much longer response than I had in mind!
