i think it’s a combination of personality and environment. i’ve always been like that- in school and in work and i can never “chill”. currently i am getting my master’s part time and last quarter i got so stressed out from pushing myself so hard that i got occipital neuralgia (sharp shooting pains at the back of my head and down my shoulders) it was HORRIBLE. i cried so many times that week. that’s when i knew i needed to dial it back and just be okay with somethings being “good enough”.
the moment your mental and physical health is in impacted is the moment you need to stop and reflect. because our health is all we have to continue and it should always be #1 priority. i think it takes some self-reflection and reconfiguring your goals to make sure you’re in balance. i also think you’ll quickly see that some things simply are not worth the amount of stress and pressure that you will put yourself under.
this chart def changed my perspective on where i put my efforts. it’s a great reminder that i can invest/improve on so many things besides work. I’m still not sure if striving for improvement all the time is good but i’ve definitely felt more balanced and satisfied with myself/my growth

Yes but I find it incredibly rewarding and have balance in other parts of my life as well.
Is it negatively impacting your mental health or other parts of your life? If not, own it and go be a boss b*tch. As long as you can recognize when it’s having a tangible negative impact and address it then it’s not a problem.

Yeah. And then I realized how unhappy I was.
My friends couldn't care less what I do. My parents are already proud of me. i feel successful in what I've done already.
Time to take my foot off the gas pedal and spend more time enjoying life and less time being stressed about the next checkmark on a score card that no one cares about.
