Anyone feel safe flying yet? Mother is insisting I fly instead of renting a car for holidays. I don’t see the point in risking my health.

Recently flew united and can’t say it was a pleasant experience. The plane was packed and many people were coughing/ eating on the plane. I wore multiple masks in an attempt to be safe. Luckily it was a short flight. I know many people say flying is much better with the new safety precautions but I Didn’t feel very secure. That being said, I am still planning on flying during the holidays because I am heading up north where the roads and weather will likely be unpredictable. this time around I am sitting in a seat that has no one next to me. I also intend to get a face shield and be that person.

I flew and wore an N95 mask - N95 masks protect you and others while cloth masks only protect others, so wearing one is justifiable since it’s guaranteed at least some people on the flight will not believe in COVID and will spend 50 minutes sipping on a can of Coke. I also wore a face shield. They’re great for peace of mind - some people at the airport, believe it or not, are removing their masks to talk on their phones and that helps block their filthy spit. Also it guarantees you won’t touch your face inadvertently. You’re guaranteed to get a few looks but whatever, you’re barely recognizable anyway. And you’re not interfering with anyone’s business.

Take extra precautions, wear kn95 masks, face shields and gloves. I also wore a lab overall. For hand carry, laptop etc, take cut out garbage bags to place on the tray before you place your stuff for security. Your hand carry can also go in a garbage bag which you can throw at the airport once you land. Take clorox wipes in a zip loc bag and wipe your seat and belt before you sit. Delta even offers you back seats if there are less people at the rear end since not everyone is as concerned about their health or that of the others (will uncover their nose despite the flight attendants warnings). Keep using hand sanitizer

If it’s just you, flying is probably safer than driving. I’m not willing to fly with my kid because he’s 3 and has trouble keeping his mask on for long periods (he’s great up to an hour or so, which I feel like is pretty good for a little boy, but the 4-5 total required hours is tough). I fly by myself pretty regularly.

Thanks for being considerate!

Flew Delta 6 times since July and I felt safe every time.

Consider the drive if you have the time.

Ugh, I just canceled going to a very close friends wedding in two weeks bc I'm too paranoid to fly. I'd drive but it's in Cancun, lol.

Get an N95, put it on before you enter the terminal and take it off once you get to your destination.. I haven’t flown but many friends have and haven’t had any issues.

Wife and infant traveling cross atlantic. I am not comfortable. Booking business hoping it will at least be safer than economy

Southwest has been doing a good job too. Recently flew to see my sister and had no issues. The only tricky part was the airport itself - bathrooms, stuff like that and stuff you’d encounter anywhere. Actual boarding process and being on the plane though I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all!

Flew last week on United. Felt very safe. But I will say the smell of strong sanitizer for 3+ hrs gives you a mild headache 😂

I’ve flown 5 times since this started, no issues at all. I’m either a superhuman or adhering to the guidelines that the cdc published actually works. Hiding in a hole and being afraid is borderline a disorder and it’s not helping anyone! I wish health and prosperity to all

On a plane right now. Don’t let fear paralyze you. ✨❤️

I flew with a face shielf and a KN95 mask. Wipe everything down and don't eat or drink kn the plane and you'll probably be okay. Those were the precautions I took while flying Southwest. I wasn't able to get a nonstop tho, had to connect which isnt the most ideal. My dad has been flying for work and takin these precautions and so far he's been good.

Anyone has experience with flying on AA?

I’m on with production and risk once a week. Flying is the safest mode of transportation right now. No cases have been traced back to a flight.

I’ve flown 6 times since the pandemic started. I have three more trips planned between now and the end of the year. Have always felt very safe (but I fly Alaska and they don’t book middle seats). I’m also not dead. I did have Covid in February though and still have antibodies 7 months later according my last plasma donation (albeit dwindling levels), but I’m basically doing what my family wants/needs.

Driving is still much more dangerous overall than flying. If you can get your hands on an N95 or equivalent respirator you can wear that during your flight. They filter the air and change it so the infection risk on the flight itself is not super high. Get tested before your trip either way

My husband and I have been renting a car instead of flying. We bring Clorox wipes and wipe down the car before getting in.

My bipolar father has ruined our whole family's lives. He won't take his medicine, keeps having episodes, and only cares about himself. I only feel hatred when I am around him or see his face. I don't know what having a dad looks like. Apologies for the vent.

Do you think using “him/her” for “he/she” (ex: “her is playing” “him not here yet”) is something that kids usually grow out of? Or does it need direct intervention? I have 2 students who exhibit this error, who otherwise should be dismissed. Normally I’d just keep them on and work on it alongside other goals, but they don’t have any other goals, and with COVID, and my upcoming maternity leave in March, a more compact caseload would be advantageous.

Hear me out before reporting this. I know it’s a good thing overall that we focus more on mental health/therapy nowadays, but sometimes I wonder if it’s just a crutch to blame things on others and not take self responsibility. My brother has been going through Complex PTSD and severe depression for 4-5 years and it’s been absolute hell. It’s not any better after multiple therapists and the latest one he likes seems to encourage blaming my parents as the cause despite us having same upbringing

Any other staff feeling like they might try to leave audit earlier than they planned to? Love my firm, but WFH is brutal and the people I’ve formed connections with have mostly left or WFH 99% of the time which leads to less social interaction with them. I figured I’d stick it out for 3 years or so, but with another busy season looming in a few months I’ve started looking at other roles through my network, and wasn’t sure if I was the only one.
