How do you deal with imposter syndrome?
Carbs are not the enemy!
I’m still in the process of losing weight, but it’s helped a lot. I had the same realization regarding sleeping with a CPAP.
But more than anything, I don’t want to die young. My family is plagued by disease because of our unhealthy lifestyles. And my partners family are all in great shape, running 10Ks in retirement, hiking national parks, etc. Really opened my eyes. Since then I’ve partially transformed my habits and subsequently my body.
I say all this because I want you to know that sleep apnea will just be one of many things that will be solved for you with weight loss. It’s just so worth it. Best of luck to you!
Yes absolutely. Had moderate sleep apnea got sleep tested at age 29 and they said maybe on a cpap. I was not overweight at all but was unhealthy.
Stopped smoking and most drinking and got fit and it completely fixed itself. I feel great in the mornings and feel anxious if I don’t work out. The key is making small gradual habit changes over the long term. Don’t do everything at once.
Losing weight helps but in some cases it's actually other issues with the tissue in your oral cavity/throat causing the actual breathing issue. Definitely something to watch and monitor for after a significant weight loss to see if that weight alone will resolve it for you long term. ( Speaking from family member experience) . Good Luck!
My dentist thinks my jaw and tongue ratio is causing it. But I also gained a about 50lbs because of a condition and now trying to get back to my old health and weight. I am hoping losing the weight resolves it. I’m too young to be wearing a CPAP for the rest of my life 😭
Yes! At 19 years old I weighed in at 407lbs, my sleep apnea got so bad that I developed narcolepsy.
Over the following 2 years I lost 90lbs; sleep apnea totally gone (I barely even snore anymore).
10 years later and I’m down to 275’ish (still pushing to my final goal of 225).
Boss!
