Anyone forced to come to work when everyone else is working from? Literally I received an email that said that I am not allowed to work from home, even though it is completely possible. I have a kid at home and there are secretaries working from home that do not even have kids—I am distraught at this point.

Hi, struggling here. Boyfriend’s sister got pregnant at 20 and she has decided to get an abortion. Parents and boyfriend are encouraging her and “logically” is seems the right decisions because she and her boyfriend do not have a possible way to care for this baby. After sending my resume they say the job has changed to DMV only. I check the job posting on their site and it still says DMV or remote.

Has anyone worked in public finance? I have an opportunity to work in this area of law but I am not familiar with it (I currently have experience in IP / Corporate). I am also a little concerned about work life balance in this area of law.

The insurance company I work for outsourced a huge majority of my work to a third party, ontellus 🤮. I am not longer able to bill for NPNP, SDT and CNOS. I received 5 separate NPNPs from ontellus that either had the incorrect case style, signature block or date. I've been a litigation legal assistant for 18 years. Now looking to elevate and obtain my paralegal certificate. Any recommendations for a good online school?

Has anyone made a move from a boutique firm to Big Law, regretted it, stuck it out, and found success? I am in the ‘regretted it’ phase, but it may be culture shock. I started as a legal assistant for a solo practitioner 11 years ago and am now an IP Paralegal. I’ve never had keep track of billable time, and I think that’s one of the biggest adjustments.

I recently left my corporate paralegal role to return to a small personal injury firm. I was shocked to learn that the HITECH fee no longer applies if a client requests their medical records be sent to a third-party (e.g. attorney). Has anyone had any success modifying their HITECH request template for clients so there IS a fee limitation AND the records are sent directly to their attorney? Paying $100+ for hospital records is sickening.
