Am I being too judgmental? During the interview process I ask questions that help me identify culture. During my recent interview I directly asked “How would you describe your culture?”, and it was described as “work hard, play hard”. I expected a much more meaningful reply. Thoughts?

Do I have a chance with MBB?

I’m currently working at a management consultancy (approx. 5000 employees) in the data division (in the UK).

I consider myself to be a top performer and was recently promoted from the grad scheme after 1 year at the firm (compared to average 1.5-2 years). I also have an offer for similar role at big4.

Is it worth applying as an experienced hire for MBB? I didn’t go to a target university so I’m wondering how I can maximise my chances in applying.

This might be a naive question - when they say lead a case with a hypothesis, what does it mean in cases such as market entry or acquisition? I can understand how it'll work in revenue or profit decline or cost increase, but struggle to understand it in cases where there's no root cause analysis. Could someone please explain?

Question for BCGer: I am not clear about how to compare promotion timelines with McK/Bain.

My understanding of the promotion timeline is the following:

Consultant to PL -> 21 (if you were an A at BCG) to 30 months

PL to Principal -> Minimum 45 months of tenure as a C+PL

Principal to Partner -> 21 months of Principal tenure, but can only promote in Jan or May (?)

Partner to MDP -> Absolutely no clue how this works
