Hi all! Staff Attorney who was hired to do something very specific at a BL firm. My manager has been very restrictive in what I’m allowed to do for fear that it’ll get in the way of my speciality work, even though all the partners and associates love me and are always asking me to work on deals with them. Because it’s been slow my hours have been down and my manager is back tracking and saying that I can do whatever I want. What do I when it comes to review time?

Have never been able to pay attention when stressed. On current engagement, everything (internal & client) involves lots of people and moving parts and I can't think or be productive. Even in one-on-ones I've failed. Often nod yes by default even when I haven't understood, and try to recreate it alone later. Must have gotten bad coz this week someone gave me very simple printing instructions in front of others then asked me to replay them. Really offended and hurt me but maybe they have [cont]

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?
