Anyone want to give me a like so I can get to 11 ♥️’s in order to DM for a referral. I’ll like all comments for this post in return and I hope others will as well. Let’s all get to 11+ hearts together.
Looks like a massive Exodus happened in Deloitte? Trying to staff a project and there is literally no one to staff with (at least Salesforce practice) and we are having to reach out to contractors. Is this a result of layoffs that happened last year and folks are purely unhappy with pay (not considering project pressure as that can vary/be subjective)? For folks who have been here for a long time, is this a common occurrence or is it especially bad this time around?
I consider myself a gen xer. I feel that in the past, longevity and loyalty to a company was the trend. Now, i see ppl with resumes and they stay for less than a year in a job and change jobs constantly. The younger generation and are so eager to move up the ladder. I wonder if the move up is too fast and is really justified. Or perhaps the younger generation feels a lot more entitled and are more aggressive. Thoughts?
HELP! I just got a BCG consultant offer. PwC paid for my MBA. I still need to work here for 3 more years before not owing any of it back (currently would have to pay 100% of it if I left). Is the move worth it? Or should I maybe push to move to Strategy& (internal move) instead of BCG?
I just accepted an offer at another big4 and I feel so blessed to be making $130k in LOCL as a 23 year old with less than 1.25 YOE. And I find it funny that I'm gonna be "senior" consultant/associate at my age and YOE. I don't know jack shit, and will completely understand if my clients/senior peers don't give me any respect at all. Thank you covid and the great resignation for this wonderous and hilarious opportunity.
New BCG pay bands: New Associates: 90->100K base (116-126K TC) New Consultants: 165->175K base (207-230K TC)
Is it ok to get personal in salary negotiations? For example, let the recruiter know that I’m a single parent supporting three young kids and two retired parents and I really need more money.
Weekly hours you work at MBB as a.... 1) BA, AC or Associate 2) Associate, Consultant 3) EM, PL 4) AP, Principal 5) Partner Please drop data points below: ([Position], [hours]) EM, 80
Why don't more (white collar) Americans take breaks in-between jobs? Like a month or two summer break. Is this mindset that you need to work all the time a vestige from back when people would work at the same company for 40 years until they die?
My friends little sister is graduating undergrad and has an offer from Strategy& for $100k and McKinsey for $90k (pretty sure McK is going to bump soon). Im obviously biased to McK but want to show her other perspectives. Which one should she choose and why?? And and all feedback is welcomed!
Just interviewed a potential resource (level 9 consultant) for a role on my project. Client was present and noticed the person was very likely being coached during the interview. My Sr Mgr and I...
I am proposing to leadership that our open requisitions have fully vaccinated requirements for all roles, so that we are hiring vaccinated people into the firm. Is this fair or would it affect talent acquisition negatively?
Should I take a year off work to travel? Why or why not? If you’ve done something similar, could you share your experience? Any regrets? Any advice?
What's your biggest career regret?
Why don't more partners (esp. tier 2/MBB) just retire at ~40-45? What keeps a person going at that point? I get working a job that's meaningful and and for a cause close to heart, but why work an objectively demanding job when you have multiple millions saved and a fairly high level of prestige in your field?
Need advice and pep talk because I’m certain I have chronic imposter syndrome :( Background on me, I have about 6 years of work experience post college but have gone through many companies because of layoffs and/or reorgs. With that, I’ve bounced a lot with different industries and have done different roles for a year max. My current role is about to be my longest (thank goodness, hitting about 2 years) but I feel like I’m not a SME in anything but I feel embarrassment for myself (Cont.)
What are some consulting firms that pay well and have very good WLB? Prestige is not an important factor in this question
9 months ago, I posted on this app that I was leaving FAANG for MBB. Every single responder discouraged me from doing it given worse WLB, less pay per hour worked, etc. I’m here to say that you were all correct. Every single one of you. I would go back in an instant if I could.
Need help deciding between two offers. EY-P M&A TSE - 175K - Senior Associate McKinsey Strategy - 165K + 30K sign-on - Associate 5 YOE at Deloitte doing Strategy, M&A and DD, up for Manager in June. No MBA. Chicago office. I do not like working more than 45-55 hours a week and value WLB. Leaning towards EY-P with potential to make Director in 12-14 months. No such conversations with McK on early promo. I’m not a rockstar and will be an average to above average performer. TIA!

How much does everyone save on avg a month? Right now I'm at $2,500 not counting 401k...trying to see if this is in the low or high side
Female colleague has period stain showing on light-colored skirt that is noticeable when she stands up. I feel sorry for her and understand it is a sensitive issue. How/do I approach? (I'm a guy)
Manager texted me at ~10pm asking for a non-critical update. I chose not to respond (until morning) because I don't want to allow a bad habit to form. Thoughts?
Client said, "...and Mike come on top of me on this" on a call. I think he meant "build on what I'm saying". Not quite the same. Pretty hard not to laugh when other clients snort and look at me.
I have lived in the 4th largest city of Houston, to the 3rd largest city of Chicago, to the 2nd largest city of Los Angeles, and to the 1st largest city of New York City. How many people can say they have lived in the 4 largest cities in the country? I am very proud and thankful for these experiences.
Travelers, can employers track items you expense as meals? Wondering whether including items like travel size body lotion/toothpaste when buying grocery/snacks in client city is a big deal
New senior flies in a day late, busts into the room with no apologies, and tells me (the only minority & female in the room) that I should get the coffee before the manager comes. I'm the manager. 😏
