It’s possible to get a renovated house for this much. If you like new constructions this budget can work in leesburg.

Do a reno or increase your budget.

New constructions are super tough unless you move further out from McLean. I've long been an advocate for finding a house that is 80% there but needs some cosmetic improvements and then maybe an extra bathroom/kitchen update. You can sometimes find homes <10 years old in Northern VA that fit this bill.

Seems doable but I’m not sure if it’s a good financial decision considering the costs of having a car other than the monthly payment!

Interested in your thoughts. My SO and I (both 33) are saving up to buy a house in a high COL area. We have about $350k saved in cash and about $140k in 401k/IRA. However we are still sitting on $187k in student loan debt (with about a 3.95% interest rate). I’m inclined to pay off the debt before buying a house but SO disagrees. Thoughts? We have a 2 bedroom condo now (about $325k left on mortgage). Combined income is $300k - $330k. Any advice is appreciated!

I just got hired as a Personal Assistant/Project Manager through Upwork which has a good rate to offer. I put the rate I’m expecting to receive so I assume the employer knows that this amount is my rate however when he was laying out my tasks and today’s my first day of work, he asked me if he can give a flat rate per month (not per hour) and like half amount of what I’m supposed to get. I didn’t know what to say and this is my first client so I just said yes. What should I do ?
