I’m convinced that the reason some of these firms are so prestigious is because they have intentionally exclusionary recruitment practices. I used to believe that you had to already be rich to get hired at MBB. Now being on the other side of the recruitment process , I really do feel that it rings true. I hate the way we evaluate candidates and decide on who is “high priority” during coffee chats.

I work in a change mgt/org develop internal team in a consulting firm. I feel weird in that when people ask me what I do in public I never had a way to clearly answer that question as most people don't Sr to know what org devlp or change mgt is but I also don't feel like my job is "hr" at all. My role is getting to be more and more transactional by the day, all my strategic projects get pushed to the side by the endless daily fires that are, inevitably, tracking down employees and data entry.
