I boomeranged back to accenture after less than a year. Not worthwhile UNLESS you’re settled down and don’t want to travel.
Promotion at Slalom is slow. If you’re ok with settling into a role then it’s a great place to be. But if you’d like to to move up then it’s the wrong company. Also benefits are not great. But at the end of the day it’s all about what is important to you. And let me just say it is too good to be true
If you want comfortable but not great comp, pretty good hours, and mostly routine work, it’s the place for you. I hated it because I’m ambitious and want to push my learning, but if I had two kids and a partner to go home to every night, it’d be perfect.
To me, very much a time of life/priorities play. But don’t totally drink the kool aid. Your bonus will likely suck and your salary increase and promotion prospects aren’t great. It’s still super political and not organizationally mature.
Spot. On. I'm actually an empty nester. I'm fine with travel and very ambitious. Slalom is not a great fit.
I’d echo the stagnant career growth part. We’re working on it, but it’s definitely the worst thing about slalom. Hands down
A1 yup, makes sense. after a couple of years at a big 4, I'm done and will be joining Slalom next week.
pretty much done with the travel
It really just depends what level you are in your career, and salary. Also your future career aspirations. In general if you love tech and make < 200K and are okay with stagnant career growth. Might be for you. One of the best companies I’ve worked for.
All these slalom responses are all true. Was there 5 years and went back to B4 for much higher comp. I loved Slalom, but if it wasn’t for my awesome team, i might have felt less about it. Feel free to DM if you have anymore questions.
Can anyone confirm the levels at Slalom? Does it jump from Consultant to Manager, with no Senior role in between?
Any thoughts on the DC/Va practice?
Not really. Some offices have a position that’s Consultant Manager; but that’s really a consultant with people manager responsibilities. you go from Consultant to Solution Principal our Principal Consultant, depends what you focus on. Some SP have sales targets, some don’t. PC usually has a managed revenue target. You’re usually running large project teams / accounts.
Chances are you come in as consultant. If you’re a SM or on the way to SM at Deloitte, you should negotiate to come in at the SP role so you don’t have to struggle through our terrible career development framework. My 2 cents
