Anyone get annoyed when opposing counsel sends a “high importance” email, and it’s not urgent at all? Just because you want a response now on something minor doesn’t make it urgent. Anyone have a nice example response saying thanks for your email I’ll respond soon

Yeah, here ya go: “Thanks for your email. We’ll review and let you know if any questions or comments.” Then take your time.

Similar, but for the first draft of something: “We’ll send you the draft as soon as it’s ready.”

I’ve done it when opposing fails to respond to my previous three emails

like

That is understandable and justified!

Respond when you are ready, but in a timeframe that a court would find reasonable. And just be nice.

Ignore til you’re able to respond if it’s not really time sensitive

If they get really annoying, you can set an Outlook rule to automatically reply to any email from that OC marked high importance. If they get an auto-reply every time, maybe they’ll learn.

Hello, All! I'm looking for recommendations on inspirational content for women leaders. I follow TEDWomen, many podcasts, and the Women's Conference among other sources. I'd love to hear a fresh perspective on business, trends, tech, marketing, equality in the workforce, etc. I'd love to learn something new. I'm at the VP level and have started a couple of companies, so nothing too junior, but open to many topics. Please share any speakers, books, webinars, or events that you may come across.

I have a valid I797 till September 2022 but my I-94 is about to expire in Sep 2021 and i have travelled internationally last year and i see the I-94 printed on my old passport in line with my VISA stamp as Sep 2021. Would i be out of status in September 2021 and how can i avoid it? I have reached out to the local CBP office and they mentioned it is in line with my VISA/Passport Expiry.

Hey 🐟
How often do you talk to your ex?
We broke it off because of long distance, she didn't feel too strongly for a long distance relationship.
But we've been texting twice a week with long messages for the past 4 months.
I am doing a business trip to her location for a week, she had asked to meet.

Don't know how to feel about it.
I still like her and I know she does too, but don't know if we're going to make it more complicated than it is

When your firm requires billable hours, how are they calculated? Actual vs realized (I.e. what you put on your billing sheet vs what is billed to the client). Does your firm differentiate? So stuck. What do I do? I joined this firm a year ago (4 yrs exp total) to grow/get more court/client exposure. Then 2 more-experienced associates were hired, pandemic, & all cases are divided between the other 2. I have no defined tasks except deficiency letters or the odd pro bono case. Boss claims it's mentoring. I still need to meet bill req.

Last wk Boss said I'll do more & my work was good, but today said I can't 2nd chair bc I don't have experience. I'm doing less now than my prior firm.

The amount of people, even attorneys, who can't separate out the policy merits of abortion from the issue of whether it is a constitutional right is disappointing. I consider myself pro-choice ---I believe states should allow it, that the federal government can pass a statute to guarantee it, and that FDA statutes and regulations will preempt any state trying to ban chemical abortions through FDA approved drugs. Dobbs at its core is a case about the Due Process Clause, not the policy of abortion
