Only 10k people out of 200mil are breakthrough cases that’s almost 0% chance. Chances are you have a cold or a bunch of people are getting strep or summer allergies

People forget quickly that people used to get all kinds of common minor illnesses before we limited exposure. Now that vaccinated people are hanging out again without masks, that will come back. Odds are much higher you're infected with one of the other many sicknesses you don't have 95+% immunity to.

My dad was vaccinated with J&J and then got covid, confirmed by non-rapid test. He had severe cough, shortness of breath, achy ribs, and loss of taste. The doctor thinks he may have gotten the Delta variant, but that it might have been even worse if he hadn't been vaccinated.

helpful

Breakthrough cases much more common than advertised. They just don’t track it anymore because cases are so mild / mostly asymptomatic. Most people don’t get tested after being vaccinated so data is hugely incomplete.

I have a cold too, sore throat into stuffy nose

My best friend threw me a surprise (zoom) baby shower...she put SO much time & effort into coordinating everyone, making it special, coming up with games (and giving out prizes out of her own pocket). I want to send her something as a thanks, but not sure what. Any ideas? Obviously nothing like salon/spa/restaurant gift card due to COVID, which would have been what I’d give her in normal times.

Any Law folks willing to help. My company just rolled out a COVID Survey and indicated the following clause. The completion of the US COVID-19 Vaccination Status Survey is a baseline requirement to be fully eligible for year-end rewards that you would otherwise receive. Failure to fulfill this requirement will result in a 10% decrease to any base pay increase and to any variable pay award (where applicable), submitted for you as part of year-end reward decisions.

There’s frequent commentary about leaving a company post-pandemic if that company expects a return to weekly travel. Did folks ever discuss a more purpose-driven travel expectation with clients and internal teams before covid? I’m just surprised that people make it sound like it’s either 100% travel or 100% WFH without regard for whatever needs to get accomplished or how it gets accomplished

Logical advice is appreciated: I make $130k. Thinking of doing something impulsive. I own and paid off a house that is 15 min outside of the city. I’m thinking of selling my house and moving into an apartment $1600-$1800/month in the next month. The apartment is ideal

Need opinion.. am I screwed?? Admission officer from LBS reached out for a quick 1:1 after seeing my interest. I scheduled an appointment for today but had to cancel yesterday last minute more than 24 hours before because my moms surgery was moved up due to covid so I had to take care of her. I explained I had a family matter and rescheduled for next week. I just got an automated email that my appointment was canceled with no reasoning 😭

(1/2) This post is going to make me sound so young and immature - but I promise I’m not - just in a really bad spot and could use any advice you ladies have for me. My husband is recently unemployed (COVID gifts) so, understandably, he has much more time to play video games (WoW specifically). I don’t care about the gaming, but recently a distant friend of ours (female, newly married to another friend of ours) started playing WoW again, too.

Hey y'all, kind of a two part question: 1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams? 2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?
