I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

Depressed no—but always sad!
I usually get “the itch” to move on after about 9 months, but I also feel some anxiety along with the excitement when I start a new project—moving from that familiar to the unknown. I also prefer longer projects as I am able to get to know my clients better, develop more meaningful relationships with them, and see more significant change happen (hopefully at least).
I live for project roll offs. New opportunities!
I’ve felt similarly. It’s tough to say goodbye to a team that’s working well and giving you good trajectory. But, unless this is a forever job, best to gain a new experience, even if it accelerates the departure
I was actually very happy when I left my 3 year long engagement. Long term projects are not good for your growth in most cases, your learning curve declines, you become lazy 😆
Nope. Rolled right into a long PTO
On a project for almost 14 months and will be on it for 5 more months. I’m kinda waiting to gtfo of the project. So depressed, no it’d be the opposite
Just curious, what do you consider long term? What is the longest you have done ?
Thanks, yes to me one year is long term. I was asking because in my current project consultants have been here for 3years, but it’s a staff aug so kinda normal I don’t know
Sad because I will miss some people and comfort from knowing what I was doing and being good at it.
Here I am getting bored after 3 months
It was a joyous occasion to get out of those hand cuffs
I’m not sure about depressed but certainly can be emotional - totally normal. Look forward to your next opportunity
21 months on my current gig and 2 more to go... thought I’ll be happy but your post made me sad just thinking about it
