You want time to enjoy it, take days off work, maybe even go on a honeymoon lol. There is absolutely no chance of any of that happening during busy season.

I got married in October. This also allows us to take an anniversary trip every year, which wouldn’t happen if it was during busy season.

You’re not crazy... curious as to why she’s not understanding. She’s been with you through the other busy seasons right?

At EY there is usually a blackout of time during busy season where you aren't really allowed to take off. They do make some exceptions/can be team specific, but I would hate to have to have limited time before and after the wedding to spend with visiting family, final errands, and decompressing afterwards.

Yes I have done it. Got married first week of September, took a long honeymoon. Zero shits given for the job, personal life over the cogs in a machine that we are.

I got married during the summer busy season. Only way that was possible was because of how flexible my firm (& teams) are. It’s tough, but you can do it. Make sure you let everyone know months in advance and remind them periodically so they are prepared. And congrats!

One of my coworkers is getting married this spring during our busy season. He’s taking a full month off and just let everyone know well in advance. Definitely don’t let work dictate when you get married. If you see yourself in PA long term, someone’s comment about anniversary trips is valid.

Do you think parents should be held accountable accountable for their children attending to remote learning? If school buildings were safe and a parent never got their children to school, eventually it would raise a social services flag to make a home visit. Shouldn’t the same, or similar treatment, be given to parents who don’t attend to making sure their children are attending to remote learning.?

Hey folks - Does anyone have any recommendations for online tutors, coaches based in India in the technical space that I could connect and pay on an hourly basis? I'm looking to connect with someone to help me fill in the knowledge gaps that I'm going to encounter at a new work role in AWS Azure cloud /solutions architect/DevOps space.I'm mostly self learning but if I could brainstorm with a tutor or coach I feel it would be more effective.

Forget COVID and the economy being in shambles. If I want to max my salary by jumping to a new firm, every few years, but don’t want to be seen as a flight risk, how often should I jump? For context I’m coming up on my one year anniversary and am also one year out of school making $74,700 in DC. Thanks!
