Thoughts on BCG Toronto?
Did 4 rounds of interviews. Last 2 with 2 partners at EY. Haven’t heard back even after 1 month. One partner even commented “you will be a good addition to the team”. Hiring manager gave EY email after her interview call with me.
Fast forward two weeks, no communication. Recruiting was surprised that I was still chasing for this position, month later. Got to know last week that hiring team was continuing to interview candidates. Should I drop the idea to get hired? EY hasn’t rejected me yet.

May 2020 grad here - We didn’t get a graduation, formal swearing in, or even a paper law license (they’re starting to hand them out now over 2 years later but I still haven’t gotten mine). Our state SC promulgated a rule to give an “unlimited emergency license” that allows us to practice without going through the pomp and circumstance otherwise provided by rule. For the bar, we had ours delayed with very little notice and once we actually had the test we weren’t allowed to use the bathrooms at the facility except during the test time (not during breaks), for Covid compliance reasons. Rather than lose test time people were peeing outside or in water bottles in their car. 5 people to a room, masks required the whole time, mine was too small and literally cut my ears by the second day from the tension.
The whole thing is/was really weird and I do feel somewhat robbed of a lot of the rights of passage/satisfactions that come with graduations and passing the bar. I bring up those stories when the boomers complain that millennials have no grit, lol.
It hasn’t really bothered me
I missed this and my graduation and I’m still bitter. Sworn in via YouTube livestream in my pajamas, my family didn’t even pretend to care.
Same
Yes 100%. In Massachusetts, attorneys are traditionally sworn in at the historic Faneuil Hall and it’s a big event and celebration. I was sworn in over Zoom and the process took about 7 minutes in my living room then I went on with my day…
I swore in via mail, which was awesome.
Sworn in via notary public at the FedEx store. Mail would have been more convenient!
I was sworn in in person, and it wasn’t that great. Graduation felt more momentous. My swearing in was at a convention center and felt impersonal. You likely weren’t missing much.
Rising Star
My firm used to swear their lawyers in at the standing weekly lunch meeting we held to go over open files and firm administrative events.
They’ve since upgraded to a nice cocktail party-style event.
I actually liked the zoom way…
2021 grad - half of law school was online, didn’t get a graduation, and still waiting to be sworn in and it will be virtual (NY). Don’t get me started.
