Anyone go through intense anxiety (shaking legs, sweaty palms)? I’ve been facing that for two years and feel intense pressure of smallest of tasks and lack of self worth about not getting a promotion

Yes, those are panic attacks. I have the same issue. It's a specific type of anxiety that can be triggered by many things. The best immediate response is deep, methodical breathing and removing yourself from the triggering situation until you can calm back down. The best long term response is therapy and possibly a low dose antidepressant. From experience, it's important to address the triggers of these responses, otherwise you can become overly sensitized to the trigger and experience the attacks more and more often. I reached the point during bar prep that I could not function normally and complete daily tasks. It was horrible and I don't want anyone else to go through such an experience.

Feel this. Especially with covid ive been really scared about health anxiety. Anytime something feels odd with my body my mind continues to focus on it. Sometimes feel it during the work day too like today.

Thank you both! I had this weird fit around thanksgiving last year where my legs couldn’t stop bouncing and I thought I was having a physical health emergency (rather than mental), but was of course also ruminating on upsetting things. It is good to know what it is and we’re not alone

Was in this same state about a month ago, had a team of new people I was working with on a project, some easier to work with than others, and felt similar symptoms (sweaty palms, teeth chattering, sleeplessness, etc.) for a while. I’ve gained back some confidence and this seems to have gone away for now. Hang in there.

Deloitte Moms, I remember seeing in some other bowl that Deloitte gives 200 dollars gift card or vantage points for new moms. I am having trouble finding the information in DeloitteNet or TOD. Are we still getting it or was it a past promotion kind of thing? Appreciate any guidance on this.

As someone who has only worked at EY and has no other work experience or “passion,” how do I begin looking? I’m a high performer in CA with a cpa and working in tax but I don’t feel like I have enough time for myself with all the extra work from people leaving during the never ending busy seasons. I’m in my mid twenties and feel like work is my life. I think I’ll be satisfied with six figures for a while, which I’d be pretty close to after my raise in October anyways, and 40 hour work weeks.

Am I being underpaid? $100k as a 2nd year litigation associate working mostly on insurance defense/transportation cases with a rate of $220 an hour, expected to bill 2,160 a year at a firm of about 60 attorneys in Dallas. I’m asking for a raise soon, how much is too much to ask for?

Is it normal for a Partner to tell me “you know this will delay your promotion by 6 months” a day before my STD for mental health reasons? (P.S. He assumed I took the leave for mental health reasons although I never mentioned that to him). He also said “people like you leave and never come back so make sure you talk to your sponsors before making any decision, there are people who are excited to work with you”.. the conversation is on replay in my head

When is it time to go client side from agency? I’m not looking for a new role but a contact has a contract to full time placement that is for a stable company and sounds like a significant pay raise. My current agency has good benefits, I liked the work pre-covid. Now raises and promotions are paused, and they’re very hesitant to hire with no end in sight. I’m not sure it’s worth it to hang around.

Hey folks. Any suggestions for an immigration lawyer in Chicago. Wish to do a consultation about the different possibilities on my visa status.

I recently left the bank channel and went Indy, I’ve been successful at moving clients and assets over and am just getting started. A former bank advisor colleague has show interest in partnering up. For comparison purposes our AUM and production numbers were comparable. I did more fee based business while he did more VA and insurance business but we both have a fairly balanced product mix. What are thoughts on forming a new partnership? What should I be thinking about while having discussions?

What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
