Whichever one you get. Set a limit with the card company so you don’t over spend. And pay it off monthly. Just use it to build your credit, not spend money you don’t have.

I like the capital one savour since I eat out a ton and don’t travel a lot. If you like points and have the credit the chase sapphire’s are good cards

like

3% cash back for restaurants right? I have that too. Great so far.

OP, I’d recommend to stay away from Discover because it’s international coverage is very bad. That pos card didn’t work anywhere for me, from Iceland to France

Fidelity cash back card. 2% cash back on everything. Beats airline points value, and keeps everything simple.

If you want to get an Amazon credit card for Amazon purchases it's 5% back

Beyond that, I wouldn't bother with anything else. Too much effort to manage and make sure you're getting value out of them.

Chase Sapphire

Whatever card has the best rewards that align with your current spending habits.

like

This^ figure out what you spend the most on CC wise then see if an Amex gold or chase sapphire card would give you more points than a generic 2% cash back card

Amazon Prime Rewards- pays for itself.

Amex Gold. I have a 90k referral if interested

Is this referral still available?

The cheapest one.

Chase Freedom Unlimited — no annual fee, cash back is solid

All depends on where your budget/monthly spend is.

If you post some roundabout numbers you can get better advice. Credit cards can be tailored to travel, dining, general spend, etc.

DM me for referral to Amex gold! Great for groceries, food, etc.!

Amex Platinum, no question.

Or the chase sapphire reserve

Check out the Amex Black - should fit your profile

Mega Backdoor Roth IRA question/After-Tax contributions

Crosspost from a thread in the KPMG bowl discussing Mega Backdoor Roth IRA/After-Tax contributions. I wanted to ask a quick question for a “mistake” I may have made.

I forgot to change my contributions from after-tax to Roth + Traditional. A few paychecks went through as after-tax and hasn’t touched my $20,500 contribution limit for the year yet.

How will those funds be used/taxed? What are the implications here.

My New York City lease ends soon, and I will be moving into my parents' home in NJ for the time being (maybe 6 months) to save money while we wait to see the status with WFH, vaccine, etc.

I'm changing my official USPS address and billing address to my parents' home - what should I do from a tax perspective and ensure I'm not paying double stare income taxes?

Is it still considered working in NY/living in NJ if we're WFH? Should I cease NYC taxes from my paycheck (form IT-2104).

How do rate locks work? I’m in NJ and I’m finding it so difficult to understand their fine print. No lender locks a rate here unless you have an accepted contract and further if that contract fails to close the rate lock automatically expires. I keep hearing so many folks saying they have a rate lock when I go check out open houses and I wonder how did they manage that?
