I would analyze it with my smart brain

I always pull out the first drop I see. No kids yet!

Most people should invest in low cost index fund and total market etfs. If you want to get a better return than that you either need to spend a great deal of time creating and executing a value investment strategy by finding undervalued stocks, Or you need to get very lucky on options penny stocks or forex. essentially gambling.

There’s always the Jersey shore.

Invest in what you can’t do without. That’s why FAANG stocks do so well (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google). Also, remember this is a long-term investment. Don’t freak out and pull out the first drop you see. Be patient, and generally hold your stocks unless you think the company is going the wrong direction.

like

E1 is completely right. Keep it simple, look at the long term. Barely anyone beats the market average over time

like

If you match the market average returns but at a below average cost then with time your overall returns will always be above average. This is an ideal scenario and perfectly possible with low cost diversified broad index funds. Better to be guaranteed to get rich slow than hope to get rich quick

I second the tip of buying stocks in companies you personally love, but I’m not a financial advisor.

like

What do you dinks think an index fund is? It’s a collection of individual stocks

like

@ACD1- yes they are a collection of individual stocks but diversified across categories and business models (depending on the index). That is why they are less risky than individual stocks

like

Regarding the FAANG stocks, I think it would be really awkward for the acronym if Netflix went out of business.

like

Don’t be stingy now

As of today, anything offering online gambling, ie, Churchill Downs

How’s about individual stocks

Am curious, how would you know if it was a good stock tip ?

Lots of professionals will be analyzing with their smart brains too. 50 percent will be right and 50 percent will be wrong . Individual stocks are pure speculation unless they are part of a portfolio. Without details of your portfolio any individual stocks pick may duplicate or multiply your current risk for limited benefit

☝🏿

If I see anyone here recommending individual stocks, that will terrify me of what’s to come

Hi everyone! I recently accepted a new job with a Big 4 and am also newly engaged. I have a couple of concerns… the main one being that I may not have enough time off for 2022 to cover taking off for the wedding, honeymoon, and then a couple of other weddings where I’m supposed to be a bridesmaid. Do you think there would be any wiggle room with managers allowing time off, or is it generally pretty strict? (Continued in comments)

I did an internship with a boutique consulting firm that got extended for a full year while I was in school full time as well. On top of that I have 16 months of experience in my B4/T2 consulting firm, and I have a ton of other experience on top of that interning at banks and startups. TLDR; I have 3+ years of experience, 1 year at a small consulting shop and 1.5 years at B4 upon graduation. Is it true that none of this experience really counts?
