I was in the same boat as you last year. My personal recommendation would be NOT to job hunt during the holiday season. It's crazy, schedules are all over the place, and you're just not gonna get any bites. I would use that time to redo your resume, think about what went well and what didn't in interviews, do practice runs etc. Go into the new year applying full swing.

You should look into getting a career coach to help you see any blind spots or areas of improvement to help with interviewing. If you are getting the interview than your resume must be in pretty good shape. Also, maybe expand your horizons on where you're applying to!

It's so hard. If you're truly feeling burnt out, it might be better to just take a step back until the holidays are over. A little rest could help you recharge and refocus so you can hit the ground running in the new year.

It can take people dozens of applications before they get a bite so don't be discouraged. Sounds like you are feeling burnt out so why not take a break to recharge and get back at it fresh and relaxed.

I wish I had some sage advice to leave here, but when I need to reset so I can come back better I just smoke a J and call it a day.

I was contacted by a recruiter about a role at a large tech company (not FAANG) but the role is as a W2 contractor until their hiring freeze is lifted. If brought on, I would be included in headcount for next year and immediately hired full time once the freeze is up assuming I do well as a contractor. The base comp for the full time is ~75% more than my current base and the role interests me. Basically, I want to sanity check this, am I ignoring red flags in considering this?

Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

I work in a lean team. When it’s me + NSP + a senior partner on the deal, the senior partner refuses to speak to me directly and my work would go up the chain of command. The NSP + senior partner would discuss the rationale for certain positions in the key docs w/o explaining to me or speak to clients directly w/o me, and I’d be asked to send out the revised draft to the opp counsel. When I get calls from opp counsel on tougher points in the drafts, I’m not really able to answer. Is this normal?
