At Mckinsey, yes. It is standardized based on role, tenure and performance evaluation. Bias can typically creep in at performance evaluations and the feedback received but base is mostly objective. This is not the case across the industry from what I’ve heard.
Same at ACN
Salaries aren’t the same in general, so why would it would be in consulting?
Understand-and agree.
They do at my firm: until all the women quit. Lol
Same at OW based on a specific role, level and country. There is a grid for base and bonus (bonus depends on your performance outcome but for a woman and a man starting from the same level and having the same perf they will receive the exact same bonus) which is officially not public but people share their salaries around so everybody knows what they should have. I think it’s pretty fair.
Of course you can have bias in promotions / perf assessment but when I look around me men and women seem to be promoted equally (have been based in Europe and Asia, don’t know about NA)
Yes ratio is bad overall and depends of the geography (way better in Europe than Asia). They have committed to improve that, let’s see if they can retain more women!
PwC recalibrated and I got a whopping raise
Oh really? Which staff class this impact, When was this and what was the process like?
@ AC 1 That's good to know!
It was right after we acquired Booz and moved to new cohort model. I was a manager at the time. I was seriously underpaid at pwc and many years prior at other firms because of that awful question asked by recruiters: 'what is your current salary?'
