Anyone have a 3 fund or 4 fund lazy portfolio that they recommend for medium to long term hold in a taxable account? Wanting to withdraw a portion of the investment over the next 2-3 years for down payment on an investment property. Thanks in advance!

Don’t invest the money if you need it in short term. Go with HYSA

Yes, for equities 2-2.5 years is nowhere even close to long term. You should have a minimum time horizon of 5 years. You are just having a FOMO if you want to invest looking at the current situation. However, in 2-2.5 years, there is no guarantee you will make any meaningful gains, might end up losing money. If you are ok to lose your downpayment if market goes south, invest it. Otherwise don’t.

Need career advice. Trying to break into a finance role, preferably an Analsyt role but I have no transferable experience. I worked as a mortgage loan officer (which is sales) for 2 years after college, but since mortgage is such a niche industry, no hard skills transfer and have no relevant undergrad internships unfortunately. I know I can essentially get any sales job I want in finance IE: financial advisor etc. but don’t want to be stuck in sales forever. Any advice?

I heard someone make a bold statement that contributing to a traditional 401k versus a Roth 401k were the exact same assuming the same tax rate. I ran the numbers and to my surprise they were not wrong (even considering the earnings). Can anyone explain why a Roth would ever make sense given that income will likely be lower and therefore lower tax rate in retirement?

I’m curious how much other people with similar incomes save/invest a year; I’m a 24M, making 70K a year in a HCOL city. I saved about $12K in my first year of working out of college, and I feel like that’s pretty good but I could’ve done better. My rent isn’t too pricey, but I went on 3 vacations, go out to the bars frequently, and spend pretty freely on food. Anyone care to share their income and corresponding savings for FIRE?

I have a lot of student debt from law school. I’ve refinanced a couple of times and received the best fixed rate available, but I’ve seen others refinance with a variable rate which of course is lower. I’ve read some other comments of people refinancing at a super low variable rate....isn’t this risky? Of course I am afraid of going variable and then the interest rates going up a lot. Am I missing something?

New to investing. I want to open a Roth IRA and put 3000$ in to buy VTSAX. My plan after that is to contribute 200- 300$ at the end of each month. Is that how you guys do it? Do you watch the market and buy on a specific day when the market is low or do you just pick a day of the month- lets say every 30th day of the month to add to your acct? Thanks
