Anyone have a cat and live with cat allergies? I’ve wanted to adopt for a long time, but I’m worried about underestimating my allergies. Especially living in an apartment (can’t close off bedroom, etc). Any advice is appreciated!

I’m very allergic to cats and have two myself... no regrets though I love them sooo much! I take Zyrtec and have a prescription for singulair. I also clean regularly so I think that helps with dander. It also depends on the cat too - I adopted mine so I don’t know the breed but for some reason they bug me less than my parents’ cat. My cats will sleep in my bed but by my feet instead of my head which really helps.

Yeah, eventually my body just adapted. Vacuum frequently, put blankets on furniture where the cat likes to sit so that you can easily wash those frequently. I also don’t cuddle the cat up by my face and always wash my hands after petting.

I have severe animal allergies and the wife talked me into a cat, and now he’s my best bud in WFH all the time environment. Daily double dose of xyzol has seemed to cure the trick. I rotate between Zyrtec and Xyzol to avoid immunity. And try to go a couple days here and there not taking it and it seems like others that the body adapts to the living environment.

Allergic with 3 cats here. I clean every day and bought an air purifier. My allergies only come back when I'm gone for a few days but otherwise none

I splurged on a Winix C555 air purifier and also the LG cordless vacuum (both from Costco) they help keep my allergies in control!

We have ~$400k HHI. Monthly expenses are ~$6k (1 child). We live in Austin. We’re seriously considering getting a 900k to 1M house which we wouldn’t be considering if the market in Austin wasn’t so crazy but we’re really big on proximity to culture/resources and need to stay in the area (can’t move to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio , etc.). We also just honestly feel like the suburbs out here are so very bland. Thoughts on us doing this? Are we crazy? Is this understandable given where we live?

My SM keeps commenting on how I need to have a kid soon given my age. I've already said I don't know if I want them when she initially pried but since then she's 'joked' at least once a week about how I need to get married and start popping them out. I didn't care initially but now it's just getting obnoxious. I suspect she's projecting since she wants to have a second kid herself and is experiencing challenges but enough is enough lady! How do I go about addressing it with her?

Mom’s - do you feel like it’s worth sticking around another 2ish years for the parental leave benefit? (FYI i am newly promoted to SC)
