Hello! I just wanted to give a rundown of my current career in the civil engineering field and wanted to know some good advice/wether I’m in good shape or not. I’m currently 21 years old pursuing a bachelors degree with a 3.2 GPA (summer courses should bring it up to a 3.4 about). I have 3 months of experience in Geotechnical and will be wrapping up 4 months of Structural Engineering. I graduate just about exactly a year from now and I’m thinking about pursuing a masters degree.

I am pursuing a career in international arbitration and commercial litigation and of course having a hard time finding any applicable entry level positions. I would be grateful for any advice or insight. Thank you.

Why do quite a lot of people want to go FPA? Isn’t corporate FPA has the same pay, growth, tenure and less opportunities than GL accounting?

I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

I'm an immigrant from Brazil and I'm evaluating my civil engineering degree and starting from scratch.

I have been offered senior associte 2 role, i was asking for a manager role. But i was told you will be in SA2 and get promoted to M next year with good performance.

Is it possible to get promoted in a year from SA2 to M ?

I was just offered an RN II position at Stanford Hospital’s B3 unit for $84/hour. Are there any RNs out there who can tell me what it’s like working on the unit and if it’s worth leaving my job for? I love my current job, my schedule and the people. I have no problems with it except that it’s 1.5 hours away from my family and it pays $25/hour less than Stanford.

Know for a fact I do not want to do litigation after one year. Want to try transactional work because I eventually would like to go in house. Firm reluctant to move me around right now because there’s a lot of work in litigation. Maybe a noob Q - When does it make sense to take a pay cut when changing companies? I'm a Producer/PM trying to decide if I should jump to a smaller, lesser-known company (COLOR) for more money but fewer benefits than my current job, or with TeamOne for a slight pay cut but more benefits than my current job or COLOR.
