Anyone have a recommendation for a top breast cancer surgeon in Boston? For my mother-in-law 😔

OP, I’m sorry to hear of your MIL’s breast cancer diagnosis. I can possibly help out - does she know which hospital system or oncologist she’ll use or has a preference for? BTW, there are so many effective resources and treatments for breast cancer. I am a survivor of Stage 2 and went thru the whole range of treatments. I’m NED for 3.5 years and going strong. There is a lot of hope that you and your family can count on. Hugs. ❤️ eTA: DM me if you prefer.

So happy to hear you’re doing well! MIL is in early stages, getting MRI and initial consult at a clinic in Danvers, MA but sounds like the surgeon there is a general surgeon not doing breast cancer surgeries every day. I think her insurance would allow her to go anywhere

So sorry to hear 😞 my mom went through breast cancer in 2019 (remission now) and used Newton-Wellesley/Mass General (they have a partnership) after consults at Dana & Brigham. It definitely comes down to the type of surgery she needs (if op, mastectomy vs lumpectomy? Radiation? Chemo?) and what choices she’d like to make if necessary for her process (reconstructive surgery). The good news is, Boston has some of the top surgeons in the US, as mentioned above. I’d recommend consults with all four of the hospitals mentioned and see who your MIL clicks with as a team for her procedure(s).

Thanks so much—I will recommend that she gets consults at several hospitals

I’d imagine you’d be in good hands at any of the big hospitals - Brigham and women, Newton Wellesley or mass general. My dad had his prostrate cancer treatment at MGH. A friend of mine had her mother’s treatment at Dana Farber. Lots of top surgeons in Boston! Best of luck ❣️

Thanks

Any tips for losing baby weight? Can I still call it baby weight if it’s been 3 years? I’m trying to lose about 20 lbs and my mid section appears to have permanently changed after having a 3rd child with a fun little mom pooch. Currently a few weeks left on parental leave and have had a potential opportunity come up with a smaller firm that I think makes more sense for my career goals. The question I have is: assuming I get an offer and the details work out, how do I navigate leaving? Should I provide notice right away? Go back to my current firm for a couple weeks and then give notice? I certainly don’t want to burn bridges. How would you feel on the other side?

I had a lot of meetings/interviews with a service line and office I was thinking of transferring. The last time I had a call with a partner was two Fridays ago (10 days). And they told me they’ll discuss and let me know in the next week. I sent a follow up email after my meeting. But haven’t heard anything back. Is it a bad sign? Or should I try reaching out again?

Hypothetical here: you are a parent and your child got into two schools for undergrad. The first school is a US top 30 University out-of-state, but you have to pay full sticker price ($60k+ per year). The second school is a good in-state university and 20% the cost. If your child goes in-state, you agree to invest the residual ($50k per year) in an S&P 500 fund that releases upon graduation. What is the best outcome for your child?

Position #2 - director of fin. Rep. For a company that already went public via a SPAC, more hours expected than position #1, just building out finance dept

I’ve been in the industry for about 20 years, hundreds of pitches, dozens of speaking events at big shows. I used to be a natural when presenting. Fluid, clever and insightful while keeping it friendly and conversational. Since covid and WFH my presentation focus is totally off. Low energy, nervous, dry mouth, reading off slides, hard to keep my mind in the bigger picture or focus on the story. Womp womp. Really getting me down and not sure how to get the magic back. Depressing.
