Are you thinking of buying a new one or used? If new, I’ll suggest looking at portable indoor ACs. A lot easier with the extendable window bracket that comes with it, without the hassle of trying to balance a window AC with a wooden block and what not.

I don’t have a recommendation. But I am impressed that you’ve actually thought about it and have a criteria. First day I got hot I went to Best Buy and bought the first one I saw foe $100, I got lucky and it’s quiet enough (ac being quiet wasn’t high on my list in NYC).

Fridgeaire Home Depot. It was like $250.
