I’m so sad. I’m 5 weeks, 4 days into my first pregnancy and started bleeding yesterday morning. Went to my OBGYN and said it’s very possible this is a miscarriage, however, my cervix was still closed at the time. I’m 29 and have no family history of miscarriages or abnormalities. I’m taking my 2nd blood test tomorrow to see if my HCG levels are falling (bad sign) since my first test. I stopped bleeding this afternoon so lasted ~24 hours... I’m so confused and sad and emotionally drained. 😓
How do we stop social distancing if majority of population doesn’t have antibodies and a few infected could bring us back to this situation?
I think that's the correct end game. I have a bad feeling we'll see multiple outbreaks and lose the willpower to re-quarantine.

I think we have already lost the willpower to quarantine. Just look at how busy Home Depot and Lowe’s are.

No I think we just flatten the curve. AKA go back to work and a lot of us get the virus, but at a more steady rate that doesn’t overwhelm the system. As much as I’d wish we all stayed inside until a cure/vaccine, I just don’t see the powers that be (company leaders across the board) doing that.
That’s accurate, in theory about 60% (extremely conservative) of the population will get it, but the contagion rate need to reduce in order to avoid overwhelming the system for those that need hospitalization.
In other words, the government needs to people to get sick at a slower rate

A few other potential boosts / things to hope for: significant ramp up in test production to allow for better “test and quarantine” protocols once the first wave is under control, antibody testing, better adherence to a social distancing protocol that is less stringent than shelter-in-place but still effective
At some point we will go back to work, the medical system will have a better handle of how to treat the patients, more ventilators, proper ppe, etc.... this is before vaacine
And what it means is as a society we will just accept a portion are going to die...
Those who are vulnerable will continue to socially distance themselves while the rest go back
End of summer is my guess

I think the idea is to maintain social distancing until we have a cure for this so we won’t have as many people in ICUs - or at least while we ramp up ventilator and mask capacity etc.
You are right, a second wave will come, but at least we can be more prepared. Imagine if everyone could wear a mask like they do in Korea, at least for a month.
