Got a fat cat who has a timed/measured feeder. Still gaining weight. We were all stumped. Turns out my cattle dog shares her food with the cat every morning. Someone recommended a water spritz to get him away from the food. I basically soaked him for a few minutes while he stared at me and continued eating. Looks like I'll have to lock him up while the dogs eat from now on.

Words of logic and encouragement would be appreciated. Im 31 & started dating again after 2 years of focusing on myself. Hit it off with a guy that I had been consistently seeing 2-3 times a week for the last month. Today he tells me that he’s still hung up on his ex from 2 years ago. They still text every week or so. I’m sad/disappointed because he’s obviously not emotionally available. Please provide some logic on next steps and pros/cons of staying in contact with this person

Additional Posts in In-House Counsel

Hi everyone - does anyone have any general info on the average compensation for in-house counsel at Cargill? I've done some online research (Glassdoor, Comparably, etc.), but would appreciate additional data points, if possible. Thank you!

Does anyone know if you have to negotiate an automatic 3-4% increase in salary every year for inflation, etc. when getting an in-house position? Or is that fairly standard for most companies and HR just handles that internally at the start of every year?

I have a third interview with a start up making their second legal hire. It seems like an exciting space but I’d be leaving a huge company and taking on risk if it works out. Has anyone recently made the switch to in house and now feel unorganized and less productive than when billing hours? For what it is worth, I’ve received good reviews and my superiors seems to be pleased with my work. Litigation was just so task based because of needing to hit billables, so without that requirement I feel a little like a fish out of water.

Reasonable base compensation expectations for regional general counsel position (direct report to CLO)? From what I can tell, company revenue is $500M - $1B (privately held company, so tough to know); construction industry (infrastructure / energy / mining); midwest headquarters. If you’re given a low to mid salary range with high range kept confidential and you go through the lengthy interview process, is it appropriate to negotiate more after being given an offer in the mid-range? Don’t want it to seem like I wasted everyone’s time if I “already knew” the range.

I am currently at a firm and received an in-house offer. Aside from main items like comp and big ticket benefits like PTO/health insurance/401k, what other items do I need to think about discussing/negotiating? For example, fees to keep bar licensure, professional association fees, CLEs, etc. I feel like there is so much on that end I currently take for granted being covered at my firm. Anything else I should consider?
