Lose 30 grand and the obsession will fade.
Worked for me. 🤷🏻♀️
Time heals everything, this happened to me 8 yrs ago. Now I’m back on obsessive mode.
This doesn’t sound like a healthy relationship with your finances. Like the other poster said, set up some automatic investments into index funds and take a break for a few weeks.

Step back. Seriously.
I got into a similar rut last year and had to step away for a few days just to maintain sanity & not get emotional.
If you are day trading makes sense. If you’re holding long term don’t stress it.
Def agree
I’m the same way. I think once we get back into the office it’ll be better but for now, obsessively checking my stocks is one of the few joys I have left 🥲
I don’t even like looking to see how much my iPhone says I spend on the CNBC app each day
I wake up 4am eastern just to look at premarket. My excuse is, I want to become a morning person, and to do my workouts at the gym in the mornings to avoid PM crowd.
Yes, it affects my sleep too.
My favorite analogy for markets is baseball. The season is really really long and any given thing can happen on any given day (the worst team can beat the best team 8-2 and it wouldn’t necessarily mean anything), but over the long run the better teams rise above the worse ones.
If you treat every daily trading session like the super bowl, then you’re going to end up hopping in and out of positions based on emotions or the prevailing sentiment of the day. Put your positions on and monitor them but don’t wake up thinking AAPL might acquire TSLA at any given moment.

This
It honestly is an obsession and addicting even when losing money. When I first started I remember during the days just pounding caffeine, ripping cigs, having sleepless nights looking at futures and of course not doing work which I’m paid for. I had to step back and limit trading to semi get life back in order.

I’m obsessed too. I think that like all obsessions, it will wane eventually.
unless you're a professional day trader (70% of us can throw a dart and get lucky in this bull market) — you will get burned. look into value and growth investing, and gauge your risk tolerance, park your cash in your investments with strong conviction, dollar cost average if you don't have a lump sum, and check back in 10 years. i'll see you in the maldives 🤙🏻
I used to do this as well, you’re going to make yourself go crazy doing it. I recommend what many other people have said, take a break and try to detach yourself. You can’t time the market so no point in looking at it all day
Working on a east coast project while on the west coast feeds into this for me too.. It does help me get mentally awake for any early meetings though haha
Money is addictive

He’s skipped over how to value a business...I would love to know how to identify which businesses are currently being sold at a discount
