Pardon my vent! Met my husbands family after 2 long years and they met my 15 mo for the first time! The whole time they kept asking me how long did I breastfeed? What food do I give the kid? What does he eat at daycare etc? My kid is at 38 percentile weight wise and I know he has lost a bit of weight last few weeks but that’s mainly because we are on a vacation and he is active as hell! Feel that after doing the legwork and research on a business development opportunity, direct management is now edging my contributions out as they go to senior leadership. The thing is, as an experienced hire, I have as much if not more knowledge in this subject area? Any ideas how to handle it?

Please help me understand something. I see posts where someone junior is offered a much more senior role, without experience. I don’t understand how an individual can be successful in a role that is often 2+ levels above their current one. And how does an employer offer such a role to someone without any experience at near that level? Example: “I’m a Sr. Analyst with 3 YOE and been offered a Director’s role at XYZ”. Never managed a team, much less an entire project or group. What am I missing?
