Yeah, Don’t do it.
Thanks bro
Pick up an outdoor sport/hobby- that’s how you make friends here (other than bars that is)
Most people shitting on SF here are probably some big 4 workers in Houston who feel obligated to shit on SF to ‘own the libs’. I grew up in boring LCOL Midwest and loved the 2 years I lived in SF even though they were expensive. Parks and hiking are epic within a 1 hour radius of the city. I personally like Nopa/Haight ashbury for proximity to GGP and sort of presidio but I was very indexed on places to run. Also if you live with roommates + score a good tech salary your additional 500/Mo in housing costs are far outweighed by the higher earnings. It’s more people wanting a house with space for kids that are screwed.
I’m so jealous! SF has been my favorite city that I've lived in. Enjoy :)
Oakland is 💯 better. SF is overrated and over priced. Oakland has bad stigma. Easy Bart ride in and faster access to get out of the city. Look at rock ridge, lake Merritt, or emeryvile
I did a temporary stay in SF to try it out, as a city it has the most dramatic socioeconomic gap between lower and upper class. And interestingly, as you go from the topographically lower points in the city to the higher spots on top of hills, you see that scale come to life. Really sad and troubling homelessness issues and gross inflation of costs go hand in hand. But, real estate prices are down right now, I’m just not sure what the long term future holds. Seems like the gap will just continue to widen. But it is a beautiful city, the hills are amazing, closest proximity to hiking, beaches, skiing, and amazing food than any other US city. Kind of feels like Europe in some pockets of the city.
OP can you elaborate on what you’re looking for help with? Some pertinent details about your situation might help
Oh great info there. Consider getting an airbnb for a few months to test out neighborhood, they're cheap rn
Where are you moving from? If SF is the first major city you’re living in, then you’ll like it a lot better than if you were to move to SF from NYC. Anecdotal but I haven’t met a single person who has lived in both NYC and SF and strongly prefers SF. My sample size is prob like 20 or so max though haha.
I moved from NYC to SF, and felt my quality of life increase dramatically. We exist!
