Rehearsal dinner
I mean, that's how it happened for me.
Any activity is hard because who knows what who likes? A baseball game seems fun until one of the moms is cold and wished they brought their knitting tools. Bowling is fun until one of the parents breaks a hip and goes sliding down the lane. Dinner at a restaurant can be loud and there’s an awkward “who pays?” moment and then one dad says “oh you think you’re better than me??” It’s a mess.
New couples have been inviting parents over for dinner for hundreds of years. You can’t go wrong with home cooked food and wine and friendliness. 👍
It’s kind of early for that isn’t it? I dated my husband for seven years and our parents only met after we decided to move in together at about six year mark.
my boyfriend wanted our parents to meet by like 6 months. they met after we were together for 1.5 years at my graduation
-Topgolf
-A trendy, laidback bowling place
-A rooftop bar for drinks/apps
-Axe throwing places keep popping up- haven’t tried but sounds fun
They sound Like PwC team events
Bowling or an activity where you get a break from talking nonstop!
I was about to say that or a family game night.
My husband met my parents like two months in. But they are very easy going, fun people.
Ah well never mind. Wait til wedding planning shit.
Paintball... on opposite sides
Love it.
7years dating and our parents have never formally met. But neither side really cares either lol
My parents and boyfriends parents met when we moved in together after about 2 years. This isn’t answering your question, cause we just did dinner, but just throwing that experience out there
Not too different from dinner but what about apps and drinks at either of your houses? Less stuffy and formal than dinner so everyone isn’t stuck in a seat.
What about a farmers market or a festival like an art and wine thing? Somewhere you can walk around and mix it up and not stuck staring at each other?
Breweries!!
OP I’ve met parents two weeks after dating and 8 months after dating (both were serious long term relationships after college), keep doing your thing!
