I am a Principal Solutions Architect with 13 YOE of which 5 years exp is with Biotech focusing on Public Cloud (AWS) & overall AWS exp. 9 years. I need suggestions /opinions if applying for a Senior Solutions Architect (Level6) at AWS makes sense or if I should aim for a Principal SA (level 7) role at AWS with Healthcare & Lifesciences industry experience. If it makes any difference, I worked for AWS ProServe as an external SA in the past. Any insights / feedback appreciated.

I'd appreciate any insight, because Ds in our group are mostly hardcore sales / PM types and the partners eat it up. People that can actually plan and deliver the work we sell seem to be viewed as a commodity (in my experience).
Never the PM role due to my technical background, so I don't get much senior level facetime. When I want to move to those types of roles, I get pushed back to 100% delivery (generating the deliverables, not managing) because client IT staff like working with me and I give the project teams street cred with them. This has happened at two firms so far.
Do I have to just give up my tech skills so I can claim I don't know how to do the work so they don't push me into those roles anymore? Not sure what the next move is here. Next to no pipeline at the moment, and basically staff aug.
You shouldn’t need to give up your technical skill for sales. Pipeline isn’t everything. You can focus on other area like building service line or developing team.

Try bringing people up under you so that you don’t get pushed back into the tech roles out of necessity. Developing juniors is a higher management skill too.
Otherwise, have you talked with your manager about wanting to advance?
I'm in a very similar situation as OP within WMP. However, WMP created a new career track for those of us that are technical, not pure sales, and for those that want to be innovators in our technical fields (aka "deep technologists"). Happy to chat if interested
