Anyone have any insight working at UBS as far as career progression and work-life balance (and if you’re in one of the roles, what salary numbers sound fair)?

Try to enter as high as you can in terms of rank & pay. AO band usually starts from 85k I think. Highest I’ve heard for AD was 135k but salaries are typically less in Corporate Center than in the business. Make sure to negotiate your offer too. Work life balance is there mostly but depending on your role there may be peak periods when it feels overwhelming (usually when a report or presentation is due).
If you want to get promoted in any given year, have that convo with your manager before June (9 months ahead). They usually send up names by July and start reviewing there. In December they meet & make a decision. Bonus comes out mid-Feb & promotion takes effect March 1. The risk control position sounds better because you’ll have better exit opportunities, whether that’s in a business group doing business risk mgmt, another country w/ UBS or another bank like Morgan Stanley. It’s less bureaucratic working in the central function than in the business (assuming KYC is in WM) and you learn a lot.
UBS rank goes:
EE - Employee
AO - Authorized Officer
AD - Associate Director
D - Director
ED - Exec Dir
MD - Managing Director
GMD - Group MD
Deff negotiate for the higher salary. It’s basically impossible to get a raise or promotion at UBS after you start
I've heard good things about both, but I think it can reaaaaalllly vary based on teams
I've heard good things about their WLB but I'm not sure about their career progression.
There’s basically no career progression
I currently work at UBS, I have been here since November of 2021. I have been in Banking since 2014. I was hired as a KYC analyst as well, and they only hired me as an EE. I took 52k a year.
They low ball everyone and say it’s set pay. They’re very tight! Aim for the highest pay and grade you can on joining…. Trust
UBS work-life balance is good!
