I was only at LBBS for a short time, but I realized that I hate ID work with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. I used it as a stepping stone to get into market paying big law though.
What practice area?
They reached out to me for interviews. I declined and went to mid size firm with more practice areas. Although the pay is better, it’s ID - which means all the ID stereotypes are still present (from what I have heard). One associate I worked with lateraled there and I think he is getting good experience/partners are good for the most part. If you need the money and don’t have many other options, I would pursue it.
From the plaintiffs side. Awful to deal with.
Also awful to deal with from the co-counsel side
It really depends on the office and practice group. I’ve been at LBBS for 2 years and really get along well with many of the partners I work for and other associates. I’ll get drinks with them a few times a month and a few lunches thrown in there too. Some people are also complete nightmares and need to be avoided. The billable hour quota is pretty high considering how low the pay is. But you will get a lot of hands on experience and independence, which can set you up nicely to make moves later on. If you express an interest in a specific area of law, usually they will be pretty cool about it and try to get you on a few of those cases, even if you don’t have experience in that area.
I’ve been at the firm appx the same time in GL practice group in NYC and 100% agree with this.
