Anyone have any suggestions for accounting, finance, or data analysis books or online material to prepare for an MBA? I’m accepted to LBS but my background is in entrepreneurship so I know a lot of random stuff but I want to be prepared for the required core courses.

You’ll be fine. I went to LBS and literally had zero business background in the workforce and via coursework and didn’t struggle. You should be spending your time relaxing, looking forward to the program, and pursuing your hobbies.

Anyone else questioning getting an MBA in light of the pandemic and shifting sentiment on remote work? I started a job that’s fully remote and flexible. It’s in a fast moving industry and I feel like taking 2 years away can make me miss out on expected growth that will take place. 2 year grind and then working at some 9-5+ job that won’t be flexible and will likely have to go in office once things are back to normal. With current job I’m making good money and have more personal time.

Hello everyone! For everyone who attended Wharton MBA and will attend the program, how much did or will you get financial aid (excluding the Loans as I am not interested in them for now)? I read on their website about scholarships and such, but they do not seem to be a considerable amount compared to the tuition fees. Any tips or tricks to find other fundings to finance the program? Thank you!

I am an aspiring entrepreneur and want to start a business in future for sure. I have a few ideas but nothing concrete, or close to being a start up yet. I work in tech, but a generalist - have done sales, delivery operations etc. trying to get experience in as many areas as possible before I go on my own. I dnt know where to start the journey. Are their any books or other material I can read/reference to think and plan about my entrepreneurship journey. I m in mid 40s based in t2 city US east.

Book recommendation - "Ride of a lifetime" by Robert Iger. Story of someone who started as a studio operator and went on to become the CEO of Walt Disney. Really relatable to most of us who are employees and not entrepreneurs. Books on Steve Jobs, Elon Musk are all good but I loved Robert's story more as I could relate and aspire. How he takes tough decisions, how he negotiated with Steve Jobs to acquire Pixar, his honesty, humility etc. are all something we can learn from. Go for it fishes 😄

Deciding between UT-Austin, Cornell and UCLA for tech. Scholarships aside, I love texas culture having lived there for a few summers but its the lowest rank on my list. UCLA has one of the best pipelines for tech but I’m not rich and dont know anyone in LA so would i feel left out given the affluence of the area ? And cornell I loved the student body and the inclusive tight knit nature but do they place well in the west for tech? Can anyone help? Thank you!

Suggestions on best way to source recruiting leads and use the interview process to vet candidates? I am not from the US and taxes overwhelm me; the first few years I did them with TurboTax and it was fine but then I entered a domestic partnership and had a baby. I also bought a house (that I don’t live in), so I went to H&R Block to give it a try assuming they could advise me on optimizing my return, it seemed that they are completely transactional as the person is just typing numbers in a form. Any recommendations on how to navigate personal taxes with an actual advisor?

Would you leave a big 4 to go to smaller company? This is in consulting. At current company on partner track but could be 5-7 years and at smaller company ($1b rev) it would be 1-2 years. Partner comp is similar (top Partner obviously make alot more at big4). 75% raise. Lobe my current company and team. Nervous company is too small and staff may be lesser skilled. Would you move? Nothing is guaranteed of course on Partner track. Would you only leave if it's Partner role not just MD?

Hello, I am 36 and have over 250k in savings. I started saving late (at 32) as I didn’t make much and lived in NYC. I used to be on a visa and had little to say on my salary negotiations. Upon getting my green card, my salary doubled when I changed jobs and I started saving extensively. Today I make around 180k a year and am able to save $4.5k a month and 7% towards 401k. I have no kids and I am looking to maximize savings. Any advice? Thanks!
