I agree with the reply above (easy win! & I would say that wouldn’t I 😏) but rather than ringing my own bell I would add the following:
Find a recruiter who is going to respect you and provide you with the personal and professional service you deserve- many just see you as an income source and may try and place you where they get the best fee - it shouldn’t be like that but…
Ensure that you hold the reins and they only send out your anonymised resume to where you agree to look. All proceediosjould be done with your permission and not sought retrospectively.
Find a recruiter who has experience in your career field and not a generalist who will often try to send out as many speculative enquiries as possible and see what sticks
They should also be aware of where different law firms sit in the Amlaw structure and guide you with best advice
A good recruiter will have the ears of the firms recruiting teams and may have openings that are not publicly advertised- they may not want to reveal a chink in their armor to competitors.
Find a recruiter you are comfortable talking with and discussing your career path with. They may be useful in the future.
Just because you get an interview does not mean you have to accept an offer but don’t hang out too long if it is half decent and a good recruiter can attempt to ensure you get a good compensation package and not undersell you.
Don’t be pressurised into accepting a job you are not sure about. You are the one who is going to work there day in day out and regretting a move is bad for everyone- most of all you and your personal well-being. The grass often seems greener the other side and often can be but make sure you are the one making the decision- not the recruiter.
I hope this helps and wish you well in your search
💯💯💯
Recruiters are usually the way to go. Find one you can trust and they’ll get you where you need to go while keeping it confidential.
Thank you!
