Me

I feel like my world is ending when it happens

Yes, every time. There's some people who don't get nerves, but for most of us we just have to push through it, and the fact that you get that feeling does NOT mean you shouldn't be in the job. It gets more manageable with practice, and if you're really struggling, there's meds you can get that help a lot (but don't take benzos or anything that will leave you sluggish, you still need to be "on" to present)

I’m a very confident person, but man! There are times when everything freezes, can’t breathe, can’t get a word out. The most mortifying feeling I can describe.

Yes this started happening to me. It was debilitating and continued to get worse after the first time as I knew it would happen again.

Steps I took.
1. Medication - propranolol to help with the physical manifestation. I literally could t speak
2. Took drama classes to help with stage fright.
3. I try give away the first part of each presentation to someone else, then take a middle / supporting / expert role. That way I escape the full presentation which is what I struggle with and I still get recognised as being strong and confident

A former colleague of mine (a sweet Indian American woman in her early fifties, who moved to States when she was 2 years old from India) said last week that Trump policies messing the H4/EAD renewals are very much valid even though it pains folk she know. Her reasoning is that Indian American kids are taking huge loans to study here and those jobs are being grabbed by FOBs. Never thought I would hear something like this from her. Anyone else come across such behavior from Indian Americans?

Is anyone trying to improve their mental/overall emotional health but no one close to you is working on themselves the same way? It’s just frustrating bc every time I talk to some friends they still get the same type of judgmental reactions like we used to be like 10 years ago. Does anyone here struggle with basic things at work? For example, being on time. I know it sounds basic, It’s not about waking up in time, my morning gets filled with something else, I misjudge time, I find something else to procrastinate. Second, filling out admin forms, I miss things, misunderstand. I am feeling really down on myself. I am I high performer and always deliver on complex projects, but these things, it’s like I’m totally out of it. Could it be ADHD? Depression (I’m medicated)?
