Had two with cultural care. Both great people and the agency was very supportive. Personal fit is very important.
Our first was very introverted, very sweet, I learned how to be a mom of a sweet teenager with her.
Our second was very extroverted, also very sweet, incredibly smart and excellent communicator, which was great. But she was a partier. I learned how to be a mom of a rebellious teenager with her. Partying, drugs, fake IDs, the lot.
Even with that - they were both excellent caregivers! Safe, diligent, reliable.
And our second was a godsend in COVID as we had continuity of care.
Yeah, I figured. I mean I’m not sure I care as long as they’re reliable during the week and not doing hard drugs/puking in my house. We both work from home so we’d be around most of the time during the day anyway.
12 years into having au pairs and we love it. Main thing is to make sure you have expectations set - s/he is not just childcare but a part of your family and should be included in holidays and family stuff. We have loved our au pairs over the years - we have traveled on vacations with them, celebrated holidays together, and my kids still keep in touch with several of them.
Hooked up with one once. Was tight
We used Au Pair in America for 8 years. We had one less than ideal experience that forced me to rematch. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience for our family. My advice is be picky in the selection process. The agency was not happy with me when I went through over 20 applications but these are my children. We are still in contact with all but one of our au pairs and even went to Germany to see one of them get married!

I had au pairs growing up and they were amazing.
No experience. Interested in it though. OP, where did you hear of Cultural Care? Googled them and reviews are far from stellar.
Accenture has a discount with them, it’s small though so not by any means a make or break for using Cultural Care
My au pair was amazing. At least according to my ex-husband.
I’m not bent, thanks, just cautious. From what I have gathered, some see the job as an easy opportunity into another country, while you are probably of the mind that you’re hiring a person who has no other motive than to hang with your kiddos.
