Anyone have experience working as a contract Project Manager? I’ve been in medical device manufacturing for almost 6 years, currently making $120k as a Project Manager. Getting a lot of recruiters for contract positions in the same industry. Do these typically guarantee 40 hours per week? If so, it seems a no brainer to consider as I could bump my pay up to $150k-$180k and be able to change projects every year. What’s been your experience working as a contract PM? Would you recommend?

How late (a.k.a. off the clock) is everyone working? I get calls and emails well into the late evening and sometimes later. Should I put up boundaries and stop responding after a certain point?

Anyone take a couple months break from work to apply and appear for new jobs? I’ve been in the same job for years and will need a lot of interview prep and certifications to upgrade myself to find a new job and I feel with my current project and other non work commitments I am not able to find the time to study. Considering taking a break to prepare but SO thinks otherwise.

Advice requested: Accepted a new role going from base of 88k and target bonus of 9.5k to a base of 124k and target bonus of 20% (probably end up 10-15%) not including RSU, but have a good amount. Bought a SFH where I’d barely break even given the realtors estimate of 1.1k rent. Neighbor kindly let me know going rate was actually 1.6k. Put it up for 1.5k to get a nicer long term tenant and signed in 2 weeks. First investment property and learned a lot from here/bigger pockets so feeling pretty good!
