I get the feeling that there are some advisory managers that blatantly book every staff member in their office for “just one hour” on “very quick tasks” than blatantly and intentionally immediately dump 20-30 hours of work onto them, so they can get ahead in the musical chairs of finding staff. All to the adverse effect of the practice, staff, and other teams. There’s some people that consistently do this weekly. Kind of unethical.

Are there any books or other resources that mid levels/seniors/counsel/partners on here have found helpful for the project management / managing junior attorney aspects of your job? As an Indian visa worker in US, I feel Indian managers in ZS are very rude to me , one makes me work longer hours than white team members , never lets me present in workshops , and always criticizes. Last week I made a mistake in a internal report and he said that if I did that again he will book my flight to India. I have never faced this challenge with white managers. Is this a ZS thing or across all firms, I wish to leave because this treatment makes me feel like a lesser person

Thoughts on Wealth Management as an industry? Offered a role to work under a senior FA and eventually take over the book (~$800M AUM and growing). It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. I’d want to make sure the clients stay through the transition, and I don’t want to join a dying industry. Thoughts and advice?

Just started a client-side management role at a Fortune500 & I am not only substantially younger than my direct report, but I am also the youngest manager at the company. Feeling a bit intimidated and inexperienced compared to everybody else. Any advice, books/podcasts, or general recommendations for succeeding as a inexperienced manager in a large corporation? I want to be taken seriously, but I’m afraid of being dismissed (especially by the execs and directors) because I’m a young woman.

I recently left a marketing agency and went to work with a startup as hire #2, in charge of building the entire digital marketing strategy and client management side. But now I have to think in terms of scale and process, not just marketing, which is a new paradigm for me. What are you best learning resources (book, webinars, podcasts, etc.) to start thinking in terms of scale and process?

Am I tripping? Everyone loves calling my daughter (2 months) "lil chocolate drop" or "look at all that chocolate". I love my daughter's complexion, not only because it's mine, but because it's beautiful. However, I can't help but feeling like ppl "other" or make it weird by avoiding saying dark. Calling her dark is acceptable and appreciated. I know "chocolate" comes from a place of affection, but I just can't embrace it 💯.

Democrats - serious question. And don’t present a “What About [...]” as your answer. Do you believe Joe Biden is actually capable of leading the country at his age. He BARELY speaks to the media/the public and when he does it’s very pre-set or hand picked. Since 9/1, his campaign has put the lid on him before noon 8 times! 8 out of 22 days...
