Hey all I am writing a book about value creation in real estate (commercial). Chapters would include -investing -Acquisition -Financing and underwriting -development -refurbishment -leasing -operating (tenant management) Is anyone interested in being involved?
I get the feeling that there are some advisory managers that blatantly book every staff member in their office for “just one hour” on “very quick tasks” than blatantly and intentionally immediately dump 20-30 hours of work onto them, so they can get ahead in the musical chairs of finding staff. All to the adverse effect of the practice, staff, and other teams. There’s some people that consistently do this weekly. Kind of unethical.
Has anyone looked into starting a property management business? Repeat clients, scalable, and can run smoothly once you figure out the right team/systems. Any general thoughts and or recommended resources/books? Haven’t done much research...just sharing shower thoughts here
Any books you recommend for a new manager to read? I have a team that's historically had a lot of internal conflict and big personalities
Managers and senior managers - 1) How much are you paid 2) How big is your book of business you managed and 3) How many staff do you manage?
What are the top Investment Book of Record (IBOR) systems used today at top investment management firms? I’m interviewing later this week for a position that would implement an IBOR system. Any insight would be helpful.
Are there any books or other resources that mid levels/seniors/counsel/partners on here have found helpful for the project management / managing junior attorney aspects of your job? I am not finding a lot of stuff written for lawyers specifically , but there is a lot directed at “managers” in business generally that I imagine could be applicable.
As an Indian visa worker in US, I feel Indian managers in ZS are very rude to me , one makes me work longer hours than white team members , never lets me present in workshops , and always criticizes. Last week I made a mistake in a internal report and he said that if I did that again he will book my flight to India. I have never faced this challenge with white managers. Is this a ZS thing or across all firms, I wish to leave because this treatment makes me feel like a lesser person
How to ask a startup to share their books with you. Being courted for Manager of S&O role, but don't want to be walking into a sinking ship.
Looking for recommendations on good books to read on people management, building relationships, and using those relationships to influence/drive actionable change in complex environments. TIA!
Book suggestions to better understand revenue management? Ideally specific to the beer industry
I just had my 90 day review and it’s wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible. I got a meeting invite in my books with my direct manager and director called HOLD - placeholder time for Friday around 3:00. Does this mean I’m getting let go?
Thoughts on Wealth Management as an industry? Offered a role to work under a senior FA and eventually take over the book (~$800M AUM and growing). It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. I’d want to make sure the clients stay through the transition, and I don’t want to join a dying industry. Thoughts and advice?
Just started a client-side management role at a Fortune500 & I am not only substantially younger than my direct report, but I am also the youngest manager at the company. Feeling a bit intimidated and inexperienced compared to everybody else. Any advice, books/podcasts, or general recommendations for succeeding as a inexperienced manager in a large corporation? I want to be taken seriously, but I’m afraid of being dismissed (especially by the execs and directors) because I’m a young woman.
hi all, I have been practicing just about 20 years in investment management dealing with high and ultra high net worth clients and I’m finding it just doesn’t work for me anymore and am interested in doing some else still as a lawyer but not sure what. Can anyone recommend any good books or other resources on how to transition your legal career to something more meaningful ? Thanks
I don’t think I have enough saved (80-100k) to justify a financial advisor. But I also was never taught/learned about money management and planning. Are there any good resources or books in which I could learn about how to invest in my retirement?
What do you as a producer or project manager use to market yourself when looking for a new job? Creatives have their books/portfolios that they keep up to date, but what do you personally use? A personal website? A strong resume/LinkedIn presence? Word of mouth/networking? Would love to hear different perspectives!
I recently left a marketing agency and went to work with a startup as hire #2, in charge of building the entire digital marketing strategy and client management side. But now I have to think in terms of scale and process, not just marketing, which is a new paradigm for me. What are you best learning resources (book, webinars, podcasts, etc.) to start thinking in terms of scale and process?
Seeking advice: I feel ready to start trying within next 6mos, but SO prefers to wait a few more years as he is about to start a grad program with aggressive workload and no income for a while. (Cont)
What the f.... 😳
Read something interesting today: You are not “working from home”, you are “at your home during a crisis, trying to work” So true and everyone is doing the best they can to manage working during this global pandemic.
Anyone knows what happened to Paul Ryan? I really liked him and hoping to see him as an active Republican

Any other high functioning depressed folks out there? Taking life one day at a time because that’s all I can do
Am I tripping? Everyone loves calling my daughter (2 months) "lil chocolate drop" or "look at all that chocolate". I love my daughter's complexion, not only because it's mine, but because it's beautiful. However, I can't help but feeling like ppl "other" or make it weird by avoiding saying dark. Calling her dark is acceptable and appreciated. I know "chocolate" comes from a place of affection, but I just can't embrace it 💯.
Welcome to the Nigerians & People of Nigerian Descent Group. My name is Jide Adebiyi. I am the creator and bowl leader for the group. It's my pleasure to meet you all virtually ( at least for now..Lol)
Why do women want such expensive engagement rings? Was talking to a few girls I know and they said they expect them to be in the $10k -$15k range. Seems a bit outrageous to me honestly - don’t get it.
If you decide not to come back for GSAP, at what point does this decision happen formally and what’s the process? Are there any consequences of it like having to repay the tech allowance?
How many 🐠 here use shadow effect still? I can’t stand it...and there are quite a few coworkers who consistently apply shadow effect.....
I agree with Hillary that the Senate has a constitutional responsibility to fill a SCOTUS vacancy.
Democrats - serious question. And don’t present a “What About [...]” as your answer. Do you believe Joe Biden is actually capable of leading the country at his age. He BARELY speaks to the media/the public and when he does it’s very pre-set or hand picked. Since 9/1, his campaign has put the lid on him before noon 8 times! 8 out of 22 days...
