We had new neighbors move in across the street a few months ago. A couple with a child of about 7 years old who clearly has a cognitive disability of some sort (I suspect autism). I’m becoming concerned about him. He seems to spend a good amount of time alone outdoors. He often flags down passers by to chat. I thought perhaps his parents kept an eye on him through the window, but today he was hanging on a neighbor’s front stoop for a good half hour. I went over to talk to him and see if (con’t)
Does anyone of you ladies have difficult relationships with your mother? If yes - how do you deal with it?
My best friend (lives in a different state) had a baby and I feel like we have nothing in common to talk about anymore. 😔 Anyone else been in this situation? (Im not a baby person myself)
Does anyone have any tips for how to get an exclusively breastfed baby to take a bottle. My son is 5 months old and since he was 1 month old, I pumped maybe twice a week and gave him the bottle. From around 2 weeks ago, he refuses to drink the bottle, even when he is very hungry. I have tried different bottles and ensure the temperature is warm. The milk tastes normal (I tried a bit!). :/
Would u give up ur beloved pet to move in w ur SO? My bf has a viscous, possessive cat that only is nice to him. That cat attacks, bites, & scratches w an aggression that is clearly designed to maim, not play. I dn’t feel like I can ask him to shelter the cat bc the thing would surely be put down. None of his friends or fam want to adopt it & get attacked by the little beast for the nxt 15 yrs. Plus if we don’t work out., he’s without his baby for no reason. I want a life w him bt idk what to do
Turned in my 2 wks. EM asked me to stay for another week bc manager will be on parental leave around the same time (and sounds like EM is pressuring him as well). Should I consider at all?? Felt a bit guilty to leave the pressure on the manager…
Started taking prenatal vitamins , ubiquinol and vitamin D. Been doing this for a month to prep to get pregnant. Breaking out like crazy for 3 weeks now. Are these linked?
Has anyone sponsored a child through Compassion International (or other charity)? What was your experience? I’ve always wanted to sponsor a child but want to make sure that donation is being used for right place/making direct impact to child’s life
What’s the best credit card to get for a first timer? I just finished undergrad and have never had my own credit card (besides parent). My credit score is 760ish however no established credit history
Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma was asked how he’d meet his future capital needs. He replied, “Mere paas Ma hain, Jack Ma” (I have Ma, Jack Ma), a reference to a famous line from the Bollywood film Deewar, in which the character says a person with a mother — Ma — has all the riches one needs https://restofworld.org/2021/chinese-investors-lose-out-in-indian-tech-ipo-boom/
Serious question. What baby items are most expensive? (other than diapers, formula, college education, nanny.. Etc)
Anyone with three kids: we have 2. Like the idea of the third in the next few years but already struggling with a baby and 3 year old. Is it as much of a lifestyle change vs having the second kid?
My cousins wife is pregnant! But she has no appetite for any food—I want to get them a gift but not sure what to send… any ideas? Feel like flowers are overdone and not useful.
I woke up and had a rush of anxiety thinking about my family and future. Dad isn’t working. Sister can’t find a job. Moms health is deteriorating. Two mortgages. Job security. Whew child
Holland and Knight, Tampa and Orlando. What do you all think? What are salaries (3rd year)? Parental leave only after a certain amount of time?
What are my best options for scoring small side gigs before end of year? I deduct lots of business expenses for doing some freelance work, but we had a baby so I didn’t earn any 1099s this year.
We have the nanit baby monitor, and I have noticed that my 8.5 month old daughter’s breathing slows to 20 breaths per minute while she is sleeping. The average range nanit gives is 23-62…do I have anything to be concerned about? I can’t find anything about it online, really. It does seem slow, based on what I have seen.
Tear of joy, this bowl is my baby I created 😢
If I moved from EY Business Consulting to AlixPartners Enterprise Improvement would my exit opportunities 5+ down the road be much different? AlixPartners is appealing because of the smaller firm feel, more focused line of work, and substantially better pay. I am being siloed into a work stream I don’t care for at EY and pay raises/bonuses have been below par compared to what I am hearing from contacts at other firms.
Does anybody know if BCG / McK has raised undergrad Associate / Analyst compensation in SEA?
After 28 years of life and multiple degrees I've decided that the most valuable lesson I have learned is... righty tighty lefty loosey.
In your opinion, what do you think is the most important piece of creating a positive school culture?
Interviewing with Elixirr next week for a (Senior) Consultant role in NYC; recruiter connected me to opportunity. Concerns are that they do more execution than strategy and quoted compensation at $115K might be lower than industry average. Would appreciate any insight on reputation and career development prospects.
I am in a weird situation. What should I do? I interviewed Deloitte Consulting and heard the good news. But the recruiter working for my target practice group told me that they couldn't extend an offer because I just finished my master-degree study so I would have to go through Deloitte's campus hiring team. However, I haven't heard from the campus hiring team for 2 weeks and the campus recruiter is not responding. What should I do? Am I done?
Planning on working remote from Colorado for about a month. Any recommendations on places/towns? Specifically, looking for towns that offer weekly/monthly furnished apartment rentals (outside of airbnb/vrbo/etc.) in addition to the outdoor activities (hiking, biking, parks)
Does anyone else find it difficult to ask for time off? I haven’t taken a “vacation day” since February, billed 185+ hour months consistently through the pandemic (exceeded hours for 2020 bonus eligibility), and am feeling pretty burnt out. It’s hard because other associates in my department haven’t really taken any time off either (or it has been a day or two sporadically). Would really love to take some days over Christmas to recharge but I’m nervous about perception.
Do you also hate "sandwich feedback" (praise, criticism, praise)? I know it's part of western culture. But clear and direct feedback should be enough. Working 12 hours a day, no one should have to waste time on this.
I would like to move more into a management role. Does going to a non tier 1 school enable me to make the career change? What about an online program?
Does it bother you that the job market is so faddish? When I left college (pre-crisis) most wanted to work for a bank or MBB. Now all I hear about is FANG (but mostly G) and startups.
A male colleague of mine, who just joined the team this week, has made inappropriate advancements towards me during a team event, touching my leg while talking to me and saying how pretty I am. Worst thing is he’s joining my project too… It’s a no brainer that this is unacceptable, but it’s the first time this happened to me in a work setting and I’m unsure how to handle it. What steps should I take first? Report to HR immediately or speak to my team’s partner first? Any advice is appreciated
