Keto. I removed everything processed from my diet and it’s been like 98% better since.
To be fair, I follow the diet about 98% of the time, so there’s that.
Yes. I have battled with this for years. Find a good GI Dr who addresses the brain/ gut connection. Much of it can be anxiety driven when your brain signals your stomach. Either worried about being sick, finding a bathroom or just general anxiety. Some Drs will prescribe therapy to a GI specialist who treats the brain/ gut connection. I’ve found that to be effective. My Dr also suggested more fiber in my diet. (I’m IBS with diarrhea). Which I also see as helpful. I had to go thru 3 Drs before I found one who addresses all parts of the issue. Not just one who did a colonoscopy and said that was fine, you just have IBS. I also watch my diet when traveling and in situations that may restrict my access to a bathroom. Good luck and keep looking for all the answers that may help you.
Yes, they had no idea what it was for a while, honestly feel like they still don't know and just categorized it as IBS after a colonoscopy showed nothing. Regardless, what has helped me was fixing my diet, exercising frequently, and getting my sleep. Definitely does involve a gut brain connection, so the more anxiety/stress the more upset you're stomach will be (at least that's been the case for me). I've added more fiber to my diet, have the soluble fiber you can pickup from any store and just mix it with water. Meditating, realizing when you're getting stressed and need to take a break is vital. I've found certain ingredients or foods that trigger a problem with my stomach (onions, garlic, and cheese seem to do it for me. Not to say I won't eat any of these products, my IBS issues have improved significantly luckily so I indulge here and there but I know I'll have to pay for it later with my stomach).
Also, second the GI doctor part. My GI was of no use. I actually ended up going to a natural doctor and started using some herbals. Can't 100% say it's the reason why I feel better than before, but I def felt better after that. Could just be in my head but it did the trick for me.
