Recently made the jump and the work life balance improvement is incredible - later start times and more reasonable hours overall by ALOT. The only think I miss from consulting is my unlimited PTO
I left for a Corp Strat manager role (hired when a SC but waited til M promotion was official to put in two weeks notice). Got ~$50k total comp bump and decreased my work hours by 40-50%. Best decision I ever made.
For your future self: write out things rather than substituting with an acronym that nobody will immediately understand when you're asking a group of random people a question.
@kpmg 1, is “WL balance" really that hard to work out via context clues on a consulting forum? Would honestly be surprised if anybody on here couldn’t figure that out in less than 3 seconds.
@D1 6 years consulting experience then? Would you recommend waiting to make the jump until manager level, or getting in earlier?
2.5 years as BA, then did GSAP MBA, then 2 more years before I moved. The company I went to doesn’t have analyst level Corp Strat people so I don’t know how attractive those opportunities are... but leaving post-MBA (and after getting it paid for) made a whole lot of sense for me financially.
