Anyone have insight on the culture of ECG Management Consultants? Seems like a pretty interesting firm with a wide breadth of specialty areas.

Used to work there...they are great in the health system strategy space. Culture can vary based on team, just as in any other firm. With ECG still being relatively small (compared to some of its competitors), being “in” with the right crew will pay dividends (and conversely, not being “in” the crew can set you back at times). Pretty smart ppl at the firm in general. WLB is average (not as bad as MBB but definitely not a 40 hr/wk gig). Diversity was lacking when I was there (I left last year). Pay is average.

As someone who worked there previously, lots of great experiences and great people, but management is terrible. There is no consistency across the firm about promotions, feedback, or training. Many times I feel like I heard “that’s just the way it is” when asking about existing policies or trying to implement firm wide change. Was frustrated with firm and practice leaders many times. That being said, projects were definitely interesting and fun. WLB wasn’t terrible. Pay was a little low but I was told the firm pays lower than market until manager, and higher than market from SM and above, but that might’ve changed.

DM me as well, happy to address specifics. I’ve been here around 2 years and have had a great experience. We’re not perfect, but overall a great place.

I’m very happy here especially now that everyone is getting busier firmwide after pockets of slowness last year especially on our strategy team. The work is challenging but almost always rewarding. There have been improvements in recent years to different parts of our infrastructure - we have work left to do but seems like we’re on the right track.

Really interested in knowing more myself. I have a round 2 interview next week and would love to know about comp, case and team makeup and the cadence of the work.

Shoot me a DM. Happy to help.

Is it just me, or is the big 4 sales culture low energy? I get the RFP process is painful, having done it in other industries myself, but the way I've seen most people sell in these firms seems mediocre for the amount of support that gets thrown at these opportunities. Maybe it's the ex-finance consultant in me, but the approaches I've seen in my 5 year tenure so far have me thinking this isn't catering to my strengths and won't be the best move to stick it out to SM/PPMD.

Someone could write a thesis paper on toxic masculinity and rape culture based solely off data gathered from the posts in this bowl. I knew it was bad, but hearing all these stories (and worse -- how the OP is often unsure if she should be upset about whatever incident) makes my skin crawl! Silver lining is seeing so many women affirm and validate other women's experiences and remind them they don't need to tolerate behavior like this.
