I work at LS (Roseland). Generally, a very nice group of people, and the partners I work with have all been great. Compensation and benefits are generally competitive for a firm of their size. They are doing a reasonable 3 day office / 2 day home split.

Can’t really complain, except that I wish that I had the option to make the NYC office my home office. Roseland is good if you are raising a family in suburban NJ (e.g., Essex/Morris/Bergen). However, if you want to reverse commute from NYC/Hudson County, it isn’t very convenient to get to Roseland by public transportation, unless you are willing to take cabs/ride share to and from a train station.

Hi. I recently asked for a pay increase due to moving from one pay son e to another. For more context, I was offered my pay rate based on living in TX. However, now that I am relocating to NYC Metro Area, how much of an increase can I expect or how can I negotiate the rate of it comes back on the lower end of the range I provided? Thank you!

Good morning!
I know that with the holidays comes a lot of loneliness at times especially for those of us who are single or don't have connected families. Also anxiety with the rise of the nosey family members, but remember that your identity is in Christ , not your salary, your relationship status, nor your family background. This time let us remember the true meaning- to celebrate the birthday of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.

When covid first hit, I was delighted to be working from home. My hours even improved. Now, because of some triggering events, I’m dealing with horrible panic attacks on the daily. I’m dissociating and can’t focus long enough to get work done. I JUST hit a year at this firm and am going on a one month stress leave. Worried I might not kick this mental state in that time. Any advice as to what I can do while on leave so I can come back focused and ready to work?

Be gentle - I really want to change my lifestyle but don’t know how to start as it all seems so overwhelming. I have so many issues and hurdles to work through and could use some advice on how to start.
- I have been skinny and inactive my whole life. I’m in my late 30s and had live handles before Covid but now just have a gross belly and horrible posture
- I’ve never developed good eating habits. I eat junk, don’t have regular mealtimes and usually eat one big unhealthy meal as a binge a day

Salesforce 🐠, what factors come into play when you’re selecting an implementation partner to introduce to your customers? I’m seeing a lot of smaller and less-established implementation partners swoop in at the last minute with rock bottom pricing and winning deals that they likely can’t deliver successfully with a small and inexperienced team. Yet it seems that this continues to happen, even in higher market segments. Interested to hear your thought process - thanks!

If we start repaying student loans in May, is it a wise decision to dump as much cash into them upfront as possible? I’m a second year, and I have ~$40K in savings. I wanted to buy a house (hence the cash), but that doesn’t look like it will happen in this market. I’m wondering if I should just put $30-35k into my loans instead. I have ~120K of debt.

Im a corporate/ecvc/m&a midlevel at a good v30 firm. West coast. Due to some life factors I will need to move to another state (potentially east coast) in ~3 years. Cant move earlier (same factors). Im going to be up for partnership at my current firm in like 3-5 years. Anyone have stories or datapoints about moving to a totally different biglaw market and being up for partner and making it shortly after?? Want to stay in biglaw. Any encouraging advice warmly appreciated.

I don’t work THAT much (1800h/year is my target), my weeks are usually 10-11 h m-f.

However, I’m still feeling overwhelmed and close to burnout, and I’m quite ashamed of it when other associates hit close to 3000h.

It’s not the hours, it’s the extreme perfectionism and level of detail expected that makes me hyper stressed when working, all the office politics and working for partners responsible for more they can handle and need explaining like kids, but take all the $ at the end of the day 🙄
